Aubrey Price is in the final months of her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto. Bright, witty and fiercely independent, Aubrey works part-time for the college Dean and has her sights set on graduating with distinction. When she meets Dean Grant’s son, Daniel, the TA in her senior Shakespearean studies course, a shared love of the Bard’s works and an instant mutual attraction draw Aubrey and Daniel together. Unfortunately, a strict anti-fraternizing policy, made more perilous by a black mark on Daniel’s record, keeps them apart.
Against this academic backdrop, Aubrey and Daniel navigate their way through a steamy courtship, their forbidden romance aided, abetted and sometimes thwarted by a colorful cast of friends, family and classmates.

MY REVIEW -
The beautiful cover speaks for itself. The
Weight of Words is a beautifully crafted novel that will not only make you fall
in love, but also tickle your literary minds as the writer infuses Shakespeare’s
quotes and writings in this novel.
The weight of this novel is pretty much
moderate to heavy. I like this novel because of the fact that it is just not
romantic, but I found it highly intelligent. With two smart people bantering,
and exchanging literary quotes out of their memories and making it a part of
their every day conversation.
Aubrey Price (lover her name, by the way) –
she is on her senior year of her undergraduate studies in the University of
Toronto. I like her character because she’s smart, pretty, and independent.
Between juggling her subjects on her final year, she also works as an assistant
to the College Dean. She is focused on finally finishing up her studies and
graduating with distinction. But it seems all these will be put in vain as the
new TA strutted inside her Shakespearean course that left her mind totally
blank and occupied by ways on how to have him.
The attraction wasn’t one sided because
apparently, Daniel couldn’t resist this charming, brainy and sexy student from
class. Unluckily, a strict anti-fraternizing policy is implemented in the university,
not to mention Daniel’s record has already been blemished previously.
We also meet the secondary characters who
are equally charming as our main, Matt, Julie, Penny, Brad and Jeremy. I love
Matt the most – he’s an awesome friend. At first, I wanted him and Aubrey to be
together. It was less complicated that way. The affection was obvious – but I guess
it was all there is, just friendly affection, no real fireworks between them.
As I read, I was wondering, how these two
smart people would pull of this stint. It’s a dangerous game they are playing,
and they are not only risking themselves – but other people can also be involved
once they will be out in the open. The both of them are totally in love, that
it somehow impedes both their judgment, not enabling them to think clearly of
their actions. There are times when they were almost caught, and I can feel my
heartbeat racing and leaps out of my chest. Indeed forbidden romance allows
adrenaline to seep through the blood making it more desirable.
Nevertheless, Georgina Guthrie treated us to
an intelligent story, thrilled us with an irresistible prohibited romance
between two amazing people and gave us something to look forward to for the
next two novels.

Guthrie has been a self-professed book hugger for as long as she can
remember. An avid reader and compulsive diarist, she is thrilled to be taking
the leap into the world of publishing. GG resides in Toronto, Canada, but she
still considers herself a Brit through and through and can often be found
roaming the aisles of her favourite British import shop.
A
graduate of the University of Toronto where she studied English literature,
GG is happy to fill her hours reading and writing, but she’s just as likely
to be found enjoying a good film with her husband, dancing around the kitchen
with her daughter, or hanging out with friends and family, almost certainly
with a glass of red wine in one hand a bag of cheese and onion crisps in the
other.
