Grant is damaged, selfish, and undeserving of love…or so he thinks.
Jessa is happy, in love, and has overcome her past…or so she thinks.
Grant and Jessa can’t stop thinking about one another since being introduced at a party a month ago. And despite their differences, they can’t seem to stay away from each other either. However, both are hiding secrets of less-than-perfect pasts, fearing what will happen when those mistakes come to light. As they grow closer, they each battle their own insecurities, and neither believes that they are worthy of the kind of love that they both still want. So if it’s true that opposites attract, what happens when the similarities begin to surface?

I have wanted, wanted to read Grant’s story right after I was finished with LET ME IN! He was someone who had caught my attention in the first novel and a character who grew on me. And there’s Jessa, Saddie’s best friend who had been through rough times, and is now with Rob. I had wished she would chose wisely on whom to give her heart. She had given it to Rob… but the more time she spends with Grant, the more she thinks she made the wrong decision.
All Grant wanted to do was to graduate from school, make something better out of himself, have a stable, successful job, and a big bank account. He didn’t need love – he used to love people, but they have left him. Grant had carried his suffering way too long. I have always wondered what it was – was it her mother, or another girl? Who really broke him? He tried to stay away from Jessa because she belonged to someone else. He was willing to wait, but with certain limitations. I was hoping she would finally make up her mind and chose someone who would love her for her.
Jessa has finally found someone who had accepted her past – or she’d like to think so. But Rob was changing right before her eyes. He used to be sweet, caring – but now, all they do is shag, and it was getting old. And here comes Grant whom she can’t stop thinking about. It was wrong, she was with another guy. BUT when reality hits hard, and she finally saw something she was blind to see all those times, she finally gave in to her feelings and handed Grant his chance – but with both their past haunting them, would their relationship work?
They are way different from each other, but they shared one common thing - both characters are broken, damaged and have huge baggage from their past. They needed to overcome this obstacle, spread out the truth, and give some trust to finally allow love into their hearts.
I SOOOOOOOOO love the letters. I have already read it somewhere, but it didn’t made it less beautiful. Those letters were heartbreaking, yet necessary for healing. This is one of the reasons why I fell in love with this book.
The secondary characters – they were not friends, they were family. They stick through thick and thin and always have each other’s back. It’s good to see Saddie and Brady living out their HEA. I the rest of them will have their turns too! And of course, the next one on the list is Trent – I’m just dying to know his story as well. He’s a sweet guy whose almost a brother to Jessa.
There were so many surprises and twists, just as you thought that was it – Michelle Lynn would give you another blast that will have you glued into this novel, until you realized you are on your final page, and you groan because it’s time to say goodbye to the characters you have grown to love.

EXCERPT-
By the time we get to the dance floor, we are packed in like sardines, barely able to move, let alone dance. Rob places his hands on my hips and tugs me to him while placing his leg between mine. This whole dirty dancing thing is throwing me for a loop. What exactly are we doing here and dancing like this? I stare up at him with confusion and he gives me a cat-that-ate-the-canary look before pointing to the corner.
I stop dancing and turn my body around but Rob grabs me again and brings me against his crotch. Trying to search where he was looking, my eyes scan the crowd but I don’t see anything except a sea of drunken people making out with each other.
“Right there, Jessa,” he whispers in my ear and I follow his finger. My stomach drops when my eyes find Grant pressing some girl against the wall. He has her cornered while his lips devours her neck and his hands hike up her dress.
“Wish it was you?” he whispers and chills travel up my back. I automatically attempt to step away from Rob, but he pulls me back. “Not the angel you thought he was, huh?” he laughs. He twists me around to face him and although he’s laughing his comment off, I can’t help but feel like he means it. Panic arises as I wonder if Rob has seen something. God, did he see that kiss on New Year’s?
Rob keeps me wrapped in his arms when a slow song starts, but I can’t get my mind to erase what I just saw. As Rob’s breath tickles my neck while he sways me back and forth, I desperately want to see what Grant’s doing. I knew he wasn’t a monk, but I didn’t think he was the kind of guy who fucked a girl up against a wall in the middle of a club either. After the song ends, I tell Rob that I need to go to the bathroom. He places his hands on either side of my face and starts to kiss me. Thrusting his tongue into my mouth, he doesn’t let up. It starts to feel possessive, as though he’s trying to prove to everyone I’m his. Eventually I push him away and he laughs while I stalk off.
Michelle Lynn has always been a reader, but her passion has become a full-blown addiction since her husband bought her a Kindle for Mother's Day. She's pretty sure that he regrets this on a regular basis. Especially when she has it propped up next to the stove while she cooks, which often results in a burnt dinner. Or when he loses sleep because the glow from the screen wakes him up when he rolls over at three in the morning. He does agree, however, that she uses this gift more than any other he has ever gotten her. She joking counters that, because of some of the steamy novels she reads, he also benefits more from this gift than any other he has gotten her. ;)
Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life, transferring from school to school before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids. She developed a love of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion to write. With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends. But after chasing around twin preschoolers all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.
