Thalia is twenty-one and has just finished her sophomore year of college. Her new boyfriend, Liam, invites her to spend the summer with him and his family, so as she’s been unable to find a local job to keep her at college, Thalia jumps at the chance. Liam tells her that she can be his guest at his brother, Jack’s, wedding at the end of the summer.
Jack is twenty-five and feels as though he’s drowning. He’s engaged to Mia, against his will, because it’s always been drilled into him, family comes first. Jack’s studying for a law degree, and wants to go out on his own once he graduates, specializing in criminal law. His father wants him to accept a junior partnership in the law firm owned jointly by him and Lewis, his fiancées father, to practice family law.
Then he meets his brother’s girlfriend, Thalia, and he can’t get her out of his head. He needs her to keep her distance, because every time she smiles in his direction, he wants to carry her to his room and do really naughty things to her.
Then Saturday night arrives and Liam takes Thalia to a new bar that has opened where she discovers Jack’s big secret. By day he’s the good looking, slightly older brother with a chip on his shoulder, who gives her hot looks, and by night he’s Phoenix, singer/guitar player for bad boy group ‘Deception’, who makes her sizzle to the core!
He has muscle. He has tattoos. He has piercings. He has a mouth that makes her panties wet every time he opens it. He is supposed to be getting married. He is also her boyfriend’s brother...
When Thalia was invited by her boyfriend Liam to spend the summer with him and his family, she took the opportunity. She wasn't able to find a summer job and going home to spend the summer with her parents wasn't really an option she'd prefer. Liam asked her to be his guest at his brother's Jack's wedding at the end of the summer.
Jack felt he didn't control his life anymore. He was engaged to Mia, just like what their father's wanted and was getting married right before the summer ends. His father threatened to cut off him if he won't marry Mia- which he couldn't really afford. He wanted to become a lawyer specializing in criminal law rather than family law which his father wanted for him.
Everything was pretty smooth for him, he resigned his faith that he can't marry someone he loves anymore. The thought was pretty much tolerable until Thalia came home with Liam. Suddenly, he knew that this girl was 'the girl' he was waiting for. Problem is - 1) she's Liam's girlfriend 2) he's getting married. What I like about Jack is that he's a total gentleman, he remained faithful to Mia despite the fact that he didn't love her. He has not slept with anyone since they got engage, and his hands became his best friend, the only reprieve that he's been having from his self-induced celibacy. But the question is, can he remain faithful now that Thalia is just a door away from his room? His 'hard-on' for Thalia wasn't his only secret. Contrary to his parents belief, he hasn't given up his music. He still plays with his band, has body paint and oh, piercings.
Can you blame me if I thought Liam was gay? They have been together for six months and not once he has touched Thalia? IKR?! But Liam has his own little secret and agenda why he took Thalia home with him.
I didn't see the twist coming though - where did it came from? Geez. These couple has not learned their valuable lessons - TRUST is important in a relationship. So don't go throwing accusations before you talk to your partners, or sh*t happens.
Just suitable for the title, the whole novel practically Sizzles! It sizzles with romance, and steamy scenes. Swooning is an option, although I'm pretty sure you'd fall in love with the characters as the story progressed. I'm going to hang on to this series and wait for Reece's turn. I can't wait to hear his story.
I was born in Bolton, Lancashire within the United Kingdom, where I lived, and worked at the University of Bolton. In 2010, I moved to Ireland with my husband, four kids and pack of animals.
We are now settled in a lovely town, in County Cavan. The kids love their schools, once they get there that is.
My eldest daughter, is on the Irish Junior Archery Team, and spends her time training. At least she does when her dad can get her off her ipad, reading or listening to music.
I have recently joined the book review blog, Book Addict Mumma and made a wonderful new friend in Kristy Louise Garbutt, my new boss!
My kindle is loaded with too many books to mention, as I absolutely love to read when I have the chance.
My all time high would be to stand at the foot of Mount Everest in the Himalayas.
