Life On The Edge by Jennifer Comeaux - Book Tour, Book Review

Nineteen-year-old Emily is new to pairs skating, but she and her partner Chris have a big dream–to be the first American team to win Olympic gold. Their young coach Sergei, who left Russia after a mysterious end to his skating career, believes they can break through and make history.
Emily and Chris are on track to be top contenders at the 2002 Winter Games. But when forbidden feelings spark between Emily and Sergei, broken trust and an unexpected enemy threaten to derail Emily's dreams of gold.

Emily just started with pairs skating, but she and her partner, Chris wanted to be the first American Team to win Gold in the Olympics. They have Sergei, their young Russian coach is ready to propel them into the right direction. He guided them, trained them and believed in them. Sergei had a bright future in skating, but decided to quit and ended his career early for unknown reasons.

Emily and Chris are on their way to the gold, winning competitions and making their mark. Emily and Sergei fell in love with each other unintentionally. They tried to put a stop into it, knowing that it was forbidden and it could hurt both their careers. But love always finds a way and makes it through. When their relationship has been discovered, trust has been broken, arguments flew in and an unexpected enemy threatens everything that they have been working for all their lives. Will their love be enough to surpass this?

What had me hooked on this book is not really the love story - but its the journey of two people who worked very hard to achieve their dreams. Especially Emily, from someone who was less confident of her moves, her character evolved slowly into someone who is confident with every twist and turn she has on ice. I like her relationship with Chris, how platonic it is, how they team up and work together to achieve what they wanted most. Theirs is not only a relationship of being team-mates, but they became close friends who would be their for each other when they're needed.

Their journey wasn't a piece of cake: they had bruises, missed jumps, arguments and tons of pressure in their midst. But in the end - they have reached (well, almost technically) their dream.

Jennifer Comeaux earned a Master of Accounting from Tulane University and is a Certified Public Accountant in south Louisiana. While working in the corporate world, she sought a creative outlet and decided to put on paper a story that had played in her head for years. That story became Life on the Edge, her first published novel.

When not working or writing, she is an avid follower of the sport of figure skating, travelling to competitions around the country. Those experiences allow her to see another side of the sport and serve as an inspiration for her writing.
