Title: Hit the Wall (Blythe College #2)
Author: Rochelle Paige
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: March 10, 2014
Jackson thought he knew what love was and feels like he missed his chance at happiness. He realizes he wasted his chances by chasing after one-night stands instead of going after what he really wanted.
Kaylie knows what loss feels like and doesn't want to take a chance on love. She puts up walls to keep her heart protected from experiencing that kind of pain again.
What happens when a guy who refuses to lose out again meets a girl who resists him as much as she can? Will Jackson be able to hit the wall Kaylie has put up and knock it down?
Jackson
just missed his chance on the person he thought he had loved for a while. It
hurt him, but he wanted her happy. After all, she was one of his closest
friends. What he didn’t realize, that he could feel a stronger, more powerful
emotion than what he felt for Lex.
When I say that when
you meet the RIGHT ONE, you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt. And I don’t
think you’re the type of guy who would spend a couple of years messing around
with girls when she’s right there in front of you.
Much
as I enjoy Lex & Drake’s story, I wanted an HEA for Jackson as well. After
all, he’s a great guy who knows how to look after his friends despite the fact
that he sleeps around, and shags every girl he encounters. He tells that he
needed to sow his wild oats before finally settling down, only that the girl he
was waiting for already found someone else before he put a break on his
sleeping-around-marathon.
He
met Kaylie unexpectedly – I like her character. She wasn’t a complicated
person, neither she was over emotional. This girl may have suffered a deep
sense of loss when she lost people close to her at a young age, and she had no
room for love as of now. She needed to focus on one thing only: DANCE. Unlike some,
she wanted to dance right out of college. It wasn’t just a hobby for her, it
was her passion. Everything in her life was orderly, until she came face to
face with Jackson.
The
pull was instant, and unlike before, Jackson didn’t feel like waiting. He wanted
to claim her, but he was patient enough to wait until she was ready to sleep
with him – pretty much an effort for a guy who gets an invite to bed by every
girl he approaches. But, he knew he needed to have her, needed to consume her,
and needed to be with her. So imagine my surprise when he started to woo her. Not
really the conventional type of woo – he invites her to date (which was really
way out of his norms), and spends his time with her.
But
Kaylie has walls surrounding her heart, and she had some fear of what exactly
to do right after graduation. She was sure of what her direction in life would
be, until him. Now, how can she tell him of her plans?
A
guy who just had his heart broken, and a girl who had her heart in between tall
walls, would there ever be a future between them?
I
like this novel because it was (for me) a light read, it didn’t take soooo much
drama, but still it had piqued my interest. At first, I was like – how can he
possibly forget about Lex in a matter of time, and just went straight into
Kaylie – well, I’m glad Rochelle Paige handled the transition well and gave a rationalization
that seemed plausible. I like how the story went, I loved the characters, and
most especially, I love his kink. OMG. He’s totally hotter in bed than Drake –
I can’t believe it! Totally! Well, I was quite expecting quite a big drama at
the ending, something with a big blast to end everything up, it didn’t happen –
instead I was rewarded with a mellow, heartwarming and feel-good that filled me
with content. Can’t wait for the next one in this series!

I knew the second I saw them together that I had waited too long. He wanted her, and I couldn’t blame him. She was hot. Lots of guys wanted her. But it was the way she looked at him that got to me. Her eyes lit up any time he was near, and she’d get this look on her face. Like he was the only thing she could see. I tried to tell myself that it was only a fling and that it was a good sign. She was ready for a relationship again. I just had to wait until Drake messed up before I could finally have Lex. But when it came down to it, I just couldn’t do it. She loved him, and he made her happy. More than anything, I wanted her to be happy.
When Drake calmed down and listened to me, the look of horror on his face told me that he loved her, too. My worst fear was confirmed when he refused to budge from her dorm, unwilling to go anywhere until he could find Lex. By the time Aubrey finally answered her phone, I felt sorry for the guy. He was a total wreck from knowing how much he had hurt Lex. If she forgave him, he wasn’t ever going to let her go. So I had to do it.
Now here I was, on my way to find Sasha to make sure she didn’t interfere in their relationship again. Talk about an awkward conversation. I had to talk to a chick I’d banged the fuck out of last year. About not messing with the girl I was in love with and her boyfriend. The situation was so fucked up that I couldn’t have made this shit up if I tried.

I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.
I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.
When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"
