There is a thin line between hate and love – Bronagh (love her name) & Dominic just simply proved it.
Bronagh had built a huge and strong citadel around her heart. She prefers to be left alone by herself, suffered from some bullies in school and still kept it from her sister, and she never had any real friends. People would leave her alone most of the times. The car accident that had left her parents dead when she was young had brought fear to her young heart. Everything was fine with her life, it runs smoothly without interference UNTIL Dominic Slater came into Dublin.
The Slater brothers – OMG. They are such a sight. Men with sexy body, oozing alpha-maleness, and complex personalities, you’d be confused which one you’d chose.
Dominic Slater makes it his mission to piss her off every day. I know he liked her!!!! How could he spend his time tormenting her daily without him liking her, right? Boys! They are sooooo predictable, but I liked him anyway. He’s the ultimate bad boy, a true young alpha-male, and he’s a toughie in and out of the ring, but when he gives his heart to a certain person – it consumes him. He staked his claim with Bronagh, it didn’t deter him when she wouldn’t give in. He teased her, torment her, pursued her – until she had no choice but to back into one corner, admit her defeat and her feelings for him.
Bronagh is a strong girl with a feisty personality. She had a big mouth, and it didn’t really bother me, until it opened one day and she used what she learned on another person. Arghhh. I hated her for it. Granting that her big mouth just wanted to save, or to defend her new-found best friend, but still she could have put some breaks into her mouth… She broke his heart… and she broke mine as well. I was in disbelief, and I wish I was there to put my hands on her mouth…
Theirs wasn’t an ordinary relationship – their sweetness, or the swoon-worthy moments didn’t come on every page. So when it does, it’s always worth the wait. These guys were prone to violent-tendencies, and rarely goes to school without any shiner or bruises. Some accidents, some intentional – but trust me, Dominic wasn’t the type of person who would hurt her intentionally. Despite the fact that he’s a fighter and he never loses, he would never lay her hands on her. Bronagh, on the other hand…
Gavin – I liked him, and there was a point in the novel where I wished Bronagh would just be with him. But with this Slater breathing down on his throat, threatening his life, and his balls – he figured out that the drama was too much for him.
It took a while, and a lot of effort from Dominic’s part to have Bronagh open up her heart to the people around her. The change was not immediate, it was gradual, until even Bronagh took a step back realizing that she already had people invading her life (in a good way).
There were a lot of secrets on the Slater part, secrets that even had me surprised, one that you have some inclinations of, and still the extent would still leave your jaws hanging. It was a good novel, I like watching the both of them kill each other….Ummm… I mean, banter. They weren’t a boring couple, they were really something else that made me like Dominic a whole lot more.
I could not wait for Damien’s story.
