A FRESHMAN, HER ROOMMATE, A GUY and A LIST...
THE FRESHMAN: Ana Alves came to college for one reason--to be the first person in her immigrant family to earn a degree. She doesn't want anything to derail her from her pre-med studies, especially a guy.
HER ROOMMATE: Nicki Payne is ready to party and she doesn't waste any time hooking up with a guy in a frat house bathroom. Her motto: College is a time to be young, wild and free.
A GUY: Christopher Knight is the easy-going English major with a sexy smile and killer body who sits next to Ana in her Shakespeare class. Ana finds Christopher intriguing. She just doesn't want to admit that she's falling for him.
THE HOOKUP LIST: A list of freshman girls who are ready for action that's circulated to the freshman guys via a weekly Listserv. When Nicki Payne is one of the first girls featured on The Hookup List, guys start knocking on her dorm door at all hours of the day and night looking to score...
But what happens when one of those guys is Christopher?
IT STARTED
WITH THE TITLE:
Allow me
to explain my emotions in GIFs…
What I felt about the Listserv.
This one
is one short novel that provided me with entertainment while on the plane back
home…
I’m
confused whether to like or hate Christopher – I mean, I do love a hot guy who
has brains and of course, who is really sweet. But he does borderline being a pussy,
and it is just surprising for a boy who is supposed to be ruled by hormones to
be more emotional, and clingier than a girl. To be fair, he did try to fight
his hormones, the strong temptation when it came to Ana because she was still
involved. I loved that he didn’t push her to cheat on her long-time boyfriend
just to be with him. He opted to wait, so I guess, it made up for it.
Ana – her drive
to be successful and to reach her dreams is pretty much admirable. I like her
in so many ways, not just because she’s smart and she’s quite a nerd, but
because she knows what she wants, and she doesn’t succumb to peer pressure –
and I’m really proud of it for her. She values her relationships, and doesn’t
jump into decisions. She’s a pragmatic person.
The roommate:
Can she have her story as well?!
Nicki – I didn’t expect to like her, really. I think by that time she was still
in denial. At first, I thought she was a major pain, but no, she just knows
what she wants as well, not afraid to go for it, and doesn’t care what other
people thinks about it. She finally met her match in a person I LEAST expect
to. It gave me a few laughs, I didn’t really see that coming. Good one!
It was
short, fun and sweet. It provided me with entertainment on the plane on my way
home. I finished it easily, wondering who was on the list, why wasn’t this
person on it, and who was interested in it. If that’s the way how girls and
boys mingle in college today – it’s a little bit scary, and makes me feel a
little bit old. I’m glad though that Dakota Madison did not judge it, nor
condone it, she simply stated it as what it is, reminded the young ones of its
consequences, and of being safe while having fun.
