From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes an electrifying new spin-off series,Saints of Denver, featuring all the characters fans have been dying to read about.

Sayer Cole and Zeb Fuller couldn’t be more different. She’s country club and fine-dining, he’s cell-block and sawdust. Sayer spends her days in litigation, while Zeb spends his working with his hands. She’s French silk, he’s all denim and flannel.

Zeb’s wanted the stunning blonde since the moment he laid eyes on her. It doesn't matter how many smooth moves he makes, the reserved lawyer seems determinedly oblivious to his interest—either that or she doesn't return it. Sayer is certain the rough, hard, hot-as-hell Zeb could never want someone as closed off and restrained as she is, which is a shame because something tells her he might be the guy to finally melt her icy exterior.

But just as things start to heat up, Zeb is blindsided by a life altering moment from his past. He needs Sayer’s professional help to right a wrong and to save more than himself. He can’t risk what’s at stake just because his attraction to Sayer feels all consuming. But as these opposites dig in for the fight of their lives, battling together to save a family, the steam created when fire and ice collide can no longer be ignored.

Jay doesn’t write boring characters, never has. This time we were introduced to Sayer and Zeb. Multi-layered, complex and with a whole lot of baggage on their backs. They were far too different from each other. Sayer was always the proper one. She was raised to be strong and steadfast. She was raised not to disappoint her father. She was raised not to cry and everything she does was wrong. As for Zeb, he went into jail for a crime that saved his sister’s life. To cut the chase and save his sister from further trouble, he chose to spend his time behind bars.

Both were great characters. Zeb – he’s going to win your hearts and not just because he’s good in bed. He is the best in every possible way: he can be domineering and demanding, but he can be sweet and thoughtful. You’d love his in-bed and out-of-bed character, especially when he’s around the people he loves. He’s a gentle soul. A gentle giant.

All he wanted was her, but Sayer was far from his league, and he’d have to be strong enough to destroy the icy exterior she surrounds himself. Especially when she seemed to have that strong grip on her past and isn’t ready to let it go. She needs to make a choice, and she needs to do it now. Zeb might want her, but he has someone else to consider.

You’d love everyone in this book, not just Zeb and Sayer. But there’s the wounded Poppy, whom you’d come to love here. Sayer took her under her wing, and she’s learning to live through life without fear and hesitation. There’s Zeb’s amazing family, his support system, his mom, Beryl and Joss who loves him completely. They love him and wants the best of him, but never meddled on his affairs. They’re just there to support him. Even Rowdy whom I think would put his foot in and do some meddling, he never did.

Even though it freaking hurts and it broke my heart when he said goodbye, I knew it was necessary for her to pick up the pieces of her life and bring it back together before she can offer herself to Zeb. Yes, it was frustrating, and with Zeb totally being in the ‘character’ of giving her the space, it was devastating. I was just happy that she was finally bringing herself together. And the fact of her not being there, but almost (because hey, old wounds are hard to cure), made it real.

Jay Crownover has done it again. It might have been a spin-off, but it felt just as beautiful and familiar as her previous Marked-MenSeries that have captured the hearts of many. This book will make you squirm, will make you pant, will make you laugh, will make you cry, will frustrate you, will break your hearts and will make you fall in love, and will touch your hearts. Because this isn’t just a story of two people who happen to cross-paths and fell madly in love with each other. This is a story of second chances, of hope, of love so consuming and so unconditional – it would give you a mighty dose of a book hang over.

Rating: 5 Stars
