Sometimes in love, you choose wrong…

Eight years ago, Lennon lost his heart to Rain, and suddenly she’s back, all grown up and sexy as hell. At a sorority party, he convinces himself that outbidding every other guy for a body shot from Rain is for charity. But he knows better. He doesn’t want any guy, except him, tarnishing the memory of the little girl he proposed to in fifth grade.

Jinx loves Lennon and is past ready for him to make his move. With his sexual prowess, she worries why he hasn’t made any advances. She fears she is losing him, and the only way to keep him is to overcome her past and give him what he desires.

Rain knows Lennon is trouble. If she couldn’t say no to the gangly boy asking her to skateboard off some roof, how will she refuse Lennon’s seductive powers now that he is a man? Rain has many reasons to resist his charm. He has a girlfriend, he’s moving to LA with her, and Rain has no intention to march in the long parade of Lennon Tyler conquests.

Now, Lennon must choose. Someone has to lose, and that person could be him.

MY REVIEW -
My heart was aching, aching, aching, until I couldn’t feel a thing. WHERE DID THE LOVE GO?! WHAT HAPPENED, CHRIS MYERS?!!!

The first half had me...

Apparently, Rain was the girl he proposed to when he was in 5th grade. She was his best friend, and his first love. Eight years ago, when Rain fled away after his proposal, she took his heart with her. Then now, she’s back – all grown up and sexy. One body shot – and all of those pent up sexual frustration went overdrive.

Jinx loves Lennon and is waiting for him to make his move. With his history, she was asking herself why he isn’t making any moves. She’s about to lose him, and giving into his desires might be her only chance to save their relationship.

Rain, on the other hand, came from an over-religious family with a pastor dad who threw her out on her graduation day because of her friendship with Trey – her black and gray best friend. Meeting her old best friend and first love again has her heart in knots. He was a handsome boy – but all grown up? He is irresistible. But she needed all her courage to resist him because this guy has a girlfriend, and he’s moving to LA with her. Rain wasn’t planning to be the reason of their break up nor being one of the girls on his list.

Lennon has to choose – between the present, and his past.

Surprise was the understatement of the year when I read this book. I was ready for Lennon and Jinx’s HEA after I have read the first book – WHAT IN THE WORLD HAD HAPPENED?!!!! I couldn’t believe it – it was like everything was going on perfectly and suddenly all of it was just a dream. My heart, head and soul ached: AT FIRST.

It took me a while before I started to digest the whole story – because, I said: I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT. I was so confused, so distraught, and angry. WHY? WHY? WHY not Jinx?! After what they have been through in the previous book – all of a sudden, the magic, the love (or almost) or the attraction was nowhere to be found? And it was all RAIN?! I thought he was going to give Jinx a fair chance!

I was all for Team-Jinx. She was pretty, smart, talented, and apparently when it came to book 2- she has some attitude problem. Her colors showed, and her inability to move on from rape, and inability to perform sex had driven a needy-Lennon away. ARGHHHHHHH!!!! I think Lennon needed to grow up!

It took me a while, over half of the book before I shifted the blame to Lennon as I start liking Rain, (I still have a problem with her talking to herself, and the voice in her head – it’s a classic sign of schizophrenia).  Rain had tried to stay away and even told Lennon to fix his problems with Jinx. She fought her attraction, until it was okay to act on it. They had HISTORY – one that Lennon and Jinx didn’t have. She was there when he needed someone, she helped him babysit his sister and Zoe, and she became a sister to Currie. They too have gone through so much at a young age. She might not be a favorite, but she can definitely win you over in the long run. You will understand why Lennon had chosen her instead of Jinx.

IT WAS LONG, EXCRUCIATING, rollercoaster ride that has a lot of ups, down, twist that had my jaws hanging open every now and then. It wasn’t just about a complicated, surprising love story – it’s about choices, family and trust. Lennon had gone through a lot when he was younger, and now he’s finally manning up – choosing, sticking to it and accepting the consequences. I like how his relationship with his father is evolving. It wasn’t perfect, they weren’t THAT close yet, but they’re working on it. Currie – she still act like she’s way beyond her age. It’d hard imagining her so young. But I’m glad he made a decision that was best for her, and not for him. Because despite his imperfections, and a lot of misconceptions about this guy – he’s an amazing brother – I would hand him that.

How Chris Myers managed to make you fall in love with two heroines in different books, I have no clue. Nevertheless, it may have taken a while for me to warm up to this book compared to the first – but in the end, I fell in love and had my fingers crossed that Lennon wouldn’t meet another ex on the road and change his mind. :D
