A Perfect Ten
Forbidden Men # 5
By: Linda Kage
Releasing March 30th, 2015

Let your hair down, Caroline, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

I know I've closed myself off in a major way in the past year, ever since “the incident” where I messed up my life completely. It's past time I try to live again or just give up completely. But this is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever done. In a last ditch effort to invigorate myself, I'm standing outside Oren Tenning's bedroom, I just peeled off the sexiest pair of underwear I own, and my hand is already raised to knock. My brother would disown me for doing anything with his best friend, and he'd probably kill Oren. But if I play my cards right, no one will ever know about this. Not even Ten.

Maybe after tonight, I’ll finally get over this stupid, irrational crush I hate having on the biggest jerk I’ve ever met. Or maybe I’ll just end up falling for him even harder. Maybe I’ll discover there’s so much more to my crude, carefree hunk than meets the eye.

If I were Noel, I would indeed think twice before I let my little sister, who has been through a lot, to date my best friend, who is a known man-whore, pervert and potty-mouthed ass.

Among the Forbidden Men series, I have only read two of the novel, the first one was THE PRICE OF A KISS which landed Linda Kage somewhere on top of my favorite list of authors, and this one, A Perfect Ten which nailed her on the top of it

I was torn between dreading the consequences of what was happening, or just plainly enjoy the moment. Because Caroline had waited long enough for Oren Tenning to finally notice her, to finally touch her, to finally be with her. But how can he when he was been forewarned by her brother, his best friend to stay away from her! She brought the matters into her own hands and planned a little deception – only it didn’t go the way she perceived, but to her surprise, better.

Applause for our brave and risk-taker Caroline who did something no one would ever think she was capable of. It didn’t take long though before Ten discovered her secret. The only good thing that came up with this farce was them getting together. Now, if only she had the courage to face her brother and tell him that she wants him, and he wants her too.

It was Noel who brought him out of his misery, put him under his wing and gave him a friendship that he will cherish for life. He valued it too much that he stayed away from the girl that have captured his attention the first time he laid eyes on her. But then, he was finally swayed by temptation, and there was no turning back. Will he be able to salvage their friendship once this secret was out in the open?

I enjoyed Ten’s potty mouth, his teasing, his banters with her brothers, and his trying to be the man that she was worthy of. He isn’t used to monogamy and to relationships, but that was before Caroline. He cared for her so much that he was willing to risk one of the things he valued the most – his friendship with Noel. I loved how he loved Caroline, it was cute, a little bit of alpha in there, and a whole lot of effort. They may have kept it a secret, but he never failed to make her feel important.

Caroline did something that broke her, but with Ten and his amazing ways – she was starting to heal, she was starting to feel happy, she was starting to live his life. Her friends could see that, everyone could see that, but only his brother didn’t know the real reason why.

It was a bomb waiting to explode. And when I say explode, it would be something big, something catastrophic that will destroy a lot on its midst. Are you ready for it?

Secrets, lies, deceit, betrayal, friendship and romance. What are you willing to risk? What are you willing to sacrifice? Would it be worth it? The anticipation of what was going to happen made the book so hard to put down.

A Perfect Ten had me lying around my bed, half-panting, half-dreading, giggling, and laughing. His recovery in the end might have been a little too easy, and fast, but Linda Kage made sure the epilogue rocked. It was a great surprise that brought a whole deal of relief. A really, really happy ending.
