Better When He's Bad by Jay Crownover - Release Day Launch, Giveaway

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover returns with a heart-stopping new series… Welcome to the Point.

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.

My name is Shane Baxter, Bax to most people, and I’m a thief.
If you think The Marked Men are bad boys – you haven’t met the men of Point yet. Jay Crownover was so right when she warned me – there is a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad. Should I get scared? I love bad boys, and I think I can handle just about anyone, or so I think until I have met the sexy, and really, really, really bad Shane Baxter.

He spent five years in prison, and now, he’s back in town trying to find his friend, Race who seemed nowhere to be found. Yes, our male lead is not your typical prince charming. He’s a thief, a felon and a brawler, he had made a lot of bad choices, and one bad choice had landed him inside a jail and made him stayed there for half a decade.

He needs answers, and the only one who can provide him with that is missing. Instead, a red-hair girl was thrust into his care. This girl was different from the rest of the people he knows, she was innocent, too loyal, too trusting and is meddling too much for her own good.

Dovie Pryce, our red head heroine had been living a hard life since she was young. Her mother was a junkie, and her father was nowhere to be found. But despite the circumstances, she tries to be good, and help others. The only one who mattered deeply to her was missing, and the dangerous Bax was the only one she can trust. He scares her, but he ignites some feelings foreign to her. Can she resist temptation?

RACE – omg. I don’t know what to make of him. Everyone was looking for him – what does he have? Why is everyone seemed to eager to find him? If you ask Dovie, he’s a saint who saved her from hell, but if you ask others, he was far from the saint Dovie knows. Only Race knows the answers, and I was eager to see him and finally know his secrets when he finally shows up!

I kissed the living shit out of her as I came harder than I ever had in my life. I kissed her until neither of us could breathe. Kissed her until she was pulling at my ears to get me to let her go. Kissed her until I felt her start to shimmy and quake around my dick. Kissed her until I sent her back over the edge while I tried to get my wits and rationality back. I kissed her like I knew there were only a limited number of times she was going to let me do it, and I was going to make each one a memory.

Dovie was a goner – because the moment this paragraph came out of my Kindle, I WAS! She may try to fight it, he may have too in his own way, but the attraction was just too potent to ignore. How can she possibly resist him? Perhaps, it was the bad boy persona, or may be, it was the other side of him she sees whenever they were together.

Fall in love with the bad boy, feel the thrill and enjoy this bumpy ride. Better When He’s Bad was an amazing way to start the series. It was HOT, intense emotions were all over the pages, and the characters were quite a surprise. One thing is for sure though, no matter how bad a person can get, there would always be something good in him. I started this book wondering how can someone as nice and as good as Dovie would fall in love with him or would stay with him? Would he ever changed for her? Jay Crownover gave me a perfect ending – it wasn’t what I was expecting, but it was perfect because it was realistic. This is a new series to watch out for. I can’t wait to read Race’s story next!

I let out the breath I was holding and took another step closer to her. The water was splashing on the sleeve of my shirt as I reached up to grab both of her cheeks in my palms. “Are you scared of me?”

It was the start of the questions I had asked her what felt like a lifetime ago. Her answer didn’t change, but this time when she answered, she was holding back a smile that made my heart hurt.

“Terrified, but I kind of like it now.”

“Do you trust me?” My voice broke. I had never really trusted anyone but Race and now there was her and my brother and just all kinds of new things making my life so much more complicated and undeniably fuller.

“With my life. I trust all the parts of you, Bax. You need to know that.”

“You going to go to bed with me?” That made her outright laugh and she reached up to curl her hands around my wrists.

“As often as I can and anyplace in between when the mood strikes.” The rest of the blood racing around my system went solidly south.

I dropped my forehead so it was resting on hers and the water from the showerhead was cascading down around us. I was making a mess, but I didn’t care because I had her, and she was my home. “Do you love me?”

The words sounded so foreign, but so right, when I was saying them to her. She brushed her full lips across mine and the last three months without her faded away.

“Do you want me to lie to you or tell you the truth?”

I smiled against her mouth and kissed her back twice as hard as she had kissed me. “Lie to me.”

She reached up and put her arms around my neck and took a step back, dragging me all the way into the shower stall with her. The water was lukewarm at best, and it made me shiver. So did the fact that she started to impatiently pull the tail of my shirt up over my head. A task made increasingly difficult considering I was now soaked head to toe and the material was clinging to me.

“Of course not. You’re the last person in the world I could love.”
