I have read books 1 and 3 of this series, and I must admit, I fell in love with each one of it. Derek Alexander and Melissa were great, and curiosity about Patrick and Elaine has been nagging me greatly. I finally read it – and OMG, it was just, WOW. PATRICK. WOW.

He has been cheated on by his ex-fiance with their neighbor, and he caught her, since then he doesn’t do NICE anymore. Or he’d like to think so. He tries to go into rebound, which was really uber-hot in the car, but a little bit funny post-climax, and my favorite – a disastrous office hook-up, which I thought was something really, really dangerous. Both scenes are EPIC! Patrick was super, super HOT, his ex-fiance didn’t deserve him! It was her loss!

To mitigate the circumstances, and have him clean up his act, he sends him into the desert. But then, Elaine came into his view – and even though how hard he try to be good, and not to fall into temptation, fighting it was futile. Sparks were flying, sexual tension was palpable, and chemistry was off the charts – he just found his match, and the girl of his dreams!

One problem though, she was not into long-distance relationship, he wanted to keep her. He will do anything to make them work, just as she was about to change her mind, a blast from the past decided to appear and break their bubble. And everything that he has been working hard on, every hours of driving he spent, every effort went to waste because of a single night.

But this blast from his past made me realize that Patrick was a great guy. He didn’t run away, although he was about to lose the love of his life, he stayed and faced his responsibility. He dealt with the problem head on and offered the help and support his past needed.

Tia Louise was so right when she said that this book was meant to be fun, because I really had fun reading One to Keep. It didn’t matter that I have read book three prior to this, because this can be read as a stand-alone, although it would help if I got a hold of this book first before I read the third. Nevertheless, just as you fell in love with Derek, you will fall in love with Patrick too – flaws and all. Learn from his mistake, and learn to face the consequences of your actions like he does.

The sex was steamy enough that smoke can come out of my kindle – and I’m not just talking about Patrick and Elaine. He is naughty, but overall, he’s really a wonderful guy. Sexy, romantic and fun, wrapped up in one unputdownable cover – what more is there to ask?
