“Because I was already falling for pieces
of her. correction, I was becoming borderline obsessed with those sharp little
pieces”
Here
is one of those sequels I have been dying to read ever since I put down ELITE.
Chase deserves his happy ending and I wanted to give him that right after what
happened previously. Trace & Nixon is having theirs, his should be next.
But happy ending seemed to lurk in dangerous grounds, and he needed to pass by
it in order to get it.
It
was one heck of a ride with this two! I knew it would really be a handful,
knowing they had a past, and Mil is now the head of the De Lange clan. Mil,
however, is not telling the whole truth. She might tell him some things, but
she’s keeping the rest. It took one favor, and one yes to once again start a
chase, a chase that might lead to their deaths.
Mil
had been in love with Chase since she was fourteen years old, along the years,
it turned into hate. Now, he had agreed to help her – but he was as dangerous
to her heart as she can remember, and perhaps more. Chase had grown to be pretty much dangerous
and irresistible – a fatal combination that might destroy her heart. He
protects what is his, and he would do anything for his wife, even if it means
catching a bullet to save her.
Chase
can be dangerous, but he was Mil’s safe. He can be sweet when he wanted too and
he was adorable when he follows his wife around like a, well, puppy (although
it’s hard to imagine a mafia boss do that!) I was really happy when he finally
realized that someone else was meant for him, and embraced the emotion rather
than ran away with it.
Mil,
on the other hand, didn’t know what it takes to be a Mafia boss, at first. She was
young, she was a woman, and now she was the boss of one of the Mafia Clans. How
can she do it? Perhaps, Chase would help? Perhaps it would Chase who would
lead? Ah… Mil gave me the biggest surprise of my life when she put on her big
girl panties and acted like she was born to be the head of the clan. I freakin
love this girl!
“When I think of bravery, I think of you.”
The
family secrets were small blasts that kept on detonating until the final blast
in the end shed enough bloodshed I wonder if I can handle one more secret from
these guys. This is what makes this novel so engaging to read – the surprises
that keeps on popping up on each pages and the suspense that had me biting my
nails the entire time.
Of
course, the group was still complete. It was nice to see Nixon and Trace once
again – Nixon finally being able to breathe freely once he was sure Trace was
all his, and of course Mo and Tex whom I definitely come to adore – I wonder
what the future holds for them… I’m sure their story would be an exciting one!
I
fell in love with this series the first time I met this young mafia guys who
are fiercely brave and loyal. They can be dangerous, but they protect what is
theirs and they love their partners with everything that they have. Once you
started reading this series, you will love the characters more and more as we
dig deeper into their world and face all those risks that comes with their
position. It’s a compelling read that will have your hearts beating out of your
cage with its suspense and action, swoon with its romance and squirm with its
steamy scenes.
Now
it’s TEX & MO’s turn – I can feel the excitement had just risen to another
level. Yay! Can’t wait!
“You have to fight, Chase Winter. I refuse
to live without you.”
By the time I got back to the room, Chase was in the bathroom. The shower was running, and I could have sworn I heard him singing some sort of Frank Sinatra song, but it’s entirely possible I made it up. Trace hadn’t been the only one drinking wine.
With a flourish I fell across the bed and let out a huge sigh — the type of sigh a girl lets out when she’s trying to let the person next to her know that something’s not right.
Lucky me. All I had was a wall.
Right, so I was sighing at a damn wall.
I sighed again.
Well, no time like the present. I wasn’t sure which side of Chase I was going to get tonight. The hot-as-hell arrogant asshole, who made me want to slap him almost as much as I wanted to kiss him? Or the funny, easy-going, hormonal teenager, who had left earlier this evening after staring at my boobs like he was twelve?
I smirked at the thought. Me and my sigh would take either one. The water turned off in the bathroom. The door swung open. I glanced and almost fell off the bed.
Chase naked.
Chase. Was. Naked.
Clearly he wasn’t aware that I was in the room. He didn’t turn, just ran the fluffy white towel around his dripping body. Licking my lips, I felt my pulse jump as he wiped a few droplets that streamed down his face. Damn, I wanted to run my tongue along the trails the water created. My breathing picked up — and I swore under my breath as that same towel ran down his ridiculously tight abs. I was completely wrecked, my body strung so tight I was afraid to keep breathing — afraid that it was too loud — and I didn’t want the show to end.
“How were the girls?” Chase asked without turning around.
Aw, crap. Embarrassed, I cleared my throat and scolded my eyes for continuing to remain on his muscled body. Just one more look, I promised myself, and then I’d be fine.
“Good.” I continued my bold stare. His ass was fine. Seriously. Fine.
“You get some wine and food?” he asked, wrapping the towel around his waist. Bummer.
“Yup,” I squeaked, my voice sounding all kinds of immature.
“So,” he padded over to the bed and sat, “dinner and a show, huh?”
“I, uh—” Laughing, I scooted away from him toward the pillows. “I was going to say something, but—”
“Cut the shit, Mil.” Chase smirked. “You were ogling.”
“Girls don’t ogle.”
“Oh?” That gorgeously perfect idiotic face mocked me with every ounce of hotness. Damn Chase Winter. Damn beautiful man. God should have at least taken pity on the female race and made him short or fat or anything but what I was staring at. A muscled god with dark skin, bright green eyes, and a smile that made a girl immediately want to do anything she could to trap him into marriage.
“What’cha thinking about?” He smirked again.
