It’s the life I was born to live: billionaire’s daughters, living amongst the rich & famous. But my mom kept me a secret from my dad. Until now.
I am so out of my league. Fancy parties, expensive cars, and a private school for the elite… It sounds like a dream. But everything is not as perfect as it seems on the outside. Here, the secrets are dirty, and the lies comes easy.
Kihanna wasn't poor, but they weren't rich either. So imagine her surprise when she was sent of to her father who was very, very rich. Suddenly, she was a member of the elite class - something she wasn't sure she wanted. It was pretty overwhelming to have everything at her disposal and to look at those chandeliers that can feed a town in Africa for a month. She gets to know her absentee father, the stepmother who seemed to dictate what she should wear or do and of course the perv step brother, Toby.
She had met a lot of boys - two of which are best friends, Ty and Gabe. I wasn't sure about the two of them. Well, I'm not sure among all the boys in the novel. Although they are effing rich and hotness is their middle names- they seemed to have their issues and not-so-nice vices of their own. So yes, all of them are so confusing, I had a love-hate relationship with the characters, most especially the guys. But one thing is for sure - Toby might be a perv, yet I ended up loving him in the end.
While Kihanna tried her best not to drown herself in her new world. She kept in touch with her mother, stood up for her decisions and was not really swayed with peer pressure. Everyone wanted to know who she is, but not everyone wanted to be her friend.
Mercy Amare introduced us into the world of the rich and famous. Reading The Fab Life will make you feel that you are walking, mingling with them behind all the glitz and glamour. Her writing allows us to see reality: not everything that glitters are true, and there is more to the rich than wealth. Money could not buy happiness, security and safety.
There were so many questions left unanswered, and doors left opened when I reached the end part of the book. I guess I have to wait for the next installment to know the answers to my questions. I can't wait for the next part of the saga and more of Kihanna, Toby, Gabe and the rest of the gang.
