Random Acts of Crazy by Julia Kent - Book Tour, Review, Giveaway

Random Acts of Crazy
Julia Kent
Release Day: May 21, 2013

I never intended to pick up a naked hitchhiker wearing nothing but a guitar. A guitar. Really. I don't collect guys like that (don't ask what kind of guys I do collect), but when you spot a blonde, tanned, sculpted man with a gorgeous smile and his thumb poking up and practically begging you to stop - you stop. And I definitely never thought I'd be staring into the bright blue eyes of Trevor Connor, the lead singer for Random Acts of Crazy, an indie rock star I followed like the slobbering fileshare fangirl I am. How he came to be nude and lost six hundred miles from home is quite the tale, but how we fell in love is even more unreal. Because someone like Trevor Connor, headed to Harvard Law next year, isn't supposed to want someone like me, a rural Ohio chick majoring in Boredom at Convenience Store University who is all curves and frizzy blonde hair and manners so unpolished they have sharp edges that make you bleed. But he did. When his best friend, Joe Ross, the bass player for Random Acts of Crazy and a man who makes Calvin Klein models look like Shrek, drove eleven hours through the night to rescue him, though, it got real complicated. It's one thing to like two different guys and be torn. What do you do, though, when maybe - just maybe - you don't have to choose? As my Aunt Josie says sometimes, "It's always complicated."

* * * Random Acts of Crazy is a standalone, full-length novel featuring Darla Jo(sephine) Jennings, the 22-year-old niece of Josie Mendham from the Her Two Billionaires series. It has, like many New Adult novels, an exploration of sexuality for the three main characters, doesn't shy away from mature content, and Darla has a sailor's mouth.

All the craziness started when Darla hitched hike a naked man along the road. It was a dangerous thing to do, and your mom would always remind you never to talk to strangers, but without clothes and just a guitar hanging over his neck (not to mention a collar) - where else would he keep his weapons? So, Darla
stopped her car, allowed him in AND made her first Random Act of Craziness.

If this was the guy - who could blame her?!

What she didn't expect is this naked guy is none other than Trevor Connor - the lead singer of one of her favorite bands. Talk about getting a lucky day. She could get lost just staring at his - ummmm - eyes. Sexual tension begins to unravel between the two. Oh yes, she wanted him. Just like a giddy groupie, but where? Definitely not beside the road where any moment they could be spotted by a highway patrol man. So against her better judgement, she brought him home (another random act of crazy she did)

But what happened to him? Where did he came from? Why is he naked?

Trevor Connor has no recollection of what happened to him. All he knew is that he woke up on the side of the road naked. The next thing he knew, he was hitchhiking. Good thing that this amazing girl stopped and allowed him to enter her car. Thus began the journey...

Then there's Jay (Oh, there's two hot guys in this novel *coughs*), the moment he woke up, all he could find was his friend's clothes, phone and wallet. He's the best friend who have traveled several hours to pick up his friends who have ingested all the possible peyote he could find. Trevor's mom (not to mention his as well) kept on harassing him. So he needs to find him fast and get him home faster. But what he didn't expect is to find someone like Darla in the middle of what seem to be the set of My Name is Earl.

Unlike Darla, who have lost everything when she was young, Trevor and Jay are rich kids who are set to go to law school. They have everything at their disposal and they freaking famous! The two are way too different from each other, if Trevor is pretty laid back, Jay is sorta OCD. But one thing I didn't like about these guys at first - they allow their moms to control them. OKAAAY - they're twenty-two and one text from mom telling him she's not gonna pay for law school had him peeing in his pants - major turn off!

I can't believe all these happened in one day - Darla found a naked guy, made out in the car, brought him home, had a way with him, and suddenly another guy knocks into her purple palace and some air out of her lungs. It was weird because she has just been with Trevor and suddenly her heart was beating fast for this guy who looked like he just jumped out from GQ.

Nevertheless, Darla found a connection, not just with Trevor but with Jay too. Both guys are completely attracted to her refreshing and carefree personality. Definitely she's not some ordinary girl they usually hang out with. They have enjoyed their time with her and did some amazing random acts of craziness together. But once the 2013 BMW gets fixed, and they are off to their real world - what then? Will Darla stay in Ohio or will she go with them?

I was blown - surprised and well, speechless. Never expected this novel would turn out to be fun and well, steamy. The car scene was just - super hot but it didn't compare to the one in the hotel. That was truly epic and unexpected. It has some slow in-between but it was tolerable. Darla's witty narration could make up for it, as well as those sweet, steamy moments, I enjoyed being inside her brain and reading her thoughts. Random Acts of Crazy is just the start of Darla's adventure.

Julia Kent turned to writing romance novels after learning that she could not work as a fighter pilot because her fear of flying disqualified her. Turning to her second love, she became a dog groomer, but had to abandon that job after adopting too many strays. Writing about very real, very flawed people is a natural extension of her life and, well, her. She lives on the east coast with her partner, two small children, seventeen dogs that weigh less than fifteen pounds each, and a monthly consumption of Nutella, brie and french bread that makes cardiologists cringe.
