Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.
As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

my review
Sawyer Bennett knows how to make her readers swoon and so
far, she hasn’t failed yet. She nailed another one with ALEX. I so love these
hot, complicated, and crush-worthy hockey players which makes a fourth of my
book boyfriend list.
Sutton is not hard to like – she’s pretty, intelligent,
passionate, independent and family oriented. She didn’t have that air of drama
around her, one of the reasons I love her. Despite the fact, she came from a
bad past, she had came through it, had a loving perfect family and was living her
life happily. You will come to admire her family as well. Adore Glenn so much,
I’d wonder if he’d star in one of the novels. I like this kid, he’s humble, he
didn’t ask for more than what was offered to him, and simple things make him
happy. But once someone hurts his sister, that is another story.
As for Alex – he plays the sport he despises way better
than those who love it. His father made sure of that. His fans couldn’t hate
him, even though he can be a prick because he plays really, really well. Until,
the management finally steps its foot down and tells him to clean up his act
and sends him to do outreach works as penance. He went grudgingly since he was
forced, until he saw the social worker assigned to be his partner in the
program.
Sutton didn’t want to cross that boundaries with Alex –
but who could resist this hockey God? Not me surely. He was so painfully honest,
that Sutton knows entirely what she was going in to. What she didn’t expect was
to see a different side of Alex. As for our hockey god, teaching the
hockey-virgin stuffs about hockey somewhat made him a little closer in enjoying
the sports he used to despise. The closer they get, the more complicated it
becomes for him. Sutton knows what she wants, but will Alex finally realize
what he wants before he looses the best thing that might have happened to him?
Nevertheless, I loved his big gestures. Makes me forgive him for being a prick.
A lot of sexual tension was hanging in the air, and I was
watching, waiting the whole time for it to explode. As anticipated, there were
a whole lot of sexy, steamy stuffs in between – heck if you know how Sawyer
Bennett does this, you know you have to prepare extra sets of underwear.
One thing I loved about this novel is the fact that
family would always be family. Both Alex and Sutton have the right to turn
their backs on those who have hurt them the most- but they didn’t. Instead,
they become the bigger person by helping out and just not out of obligation,
but apparently love.
Alex is a perfect blend of sports, (family) drama, steam,
humor and romance. Something that Sawyer Bennett’s fans and first-time readers
would love. I was drawn to it from the cover, and right down to the wonderful
epilogue. This is one of Sawyer’s best and I’d gladly recommend this book to
friends.
