by Jenn Young
Release Date: 12/09/14

Being stuck in the godforsaken desert is Adrian Blake’s worst nightmare come true. Senior year is all about making fun memories. It’s not about starting over at a new school and navigating a new Brady Bunch family. It’s really not about living with a sexy, arrogant would-be stepbrother who knows how to push her buttons.

Alex Montgomery is the very definition of a player. The only thing he commits to is a one night stand. He’s exactly the kind of guy she hates¬. When she sleeps with him, it’s the biggest mistake of her life. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Not at school. Not at home.

Sometimes the best mistakes are the ones that you make over and over again…

This was one of those novels I had a love-hate relationship with. There are times when I am so engrossed in reading, and there would be times when some scenes would have me pissed off, and all I wanted to do was to slap the hell out of Adrian.

I was ready to like this girl who was forced to move in the hot desert of Arizona, complete with a new family thanks to her father's new girlfriend and her boys. It was her worst nightmare - leaving her hometown on her senior year, starting from scratch with a new school with no friends. She's losing her boyfriend, and not to mention she gains an arrogant soon-to-be step brother who knows how to push her button.

School is a bit hellish, and she gains a reputation of being the school b*tch when she opened her mouth, and just sprouted out some insane words.

I was caught by surprise with her actions, and the sudden change of her personality. It was like turning 180 all of a sudden. And truth to be told, I didn't like it. I knew where she is coming from, and it seems like a defense mechanism for her, but heck she's really...

She's one of those people in school who might be dead beautiful, but with a huge chip on her shoulder and is acting out like a b*tch. She has issues and is displacing it to the first person who opens his/her mouth and rubs her wrong. It was really hard to like her. She doesn't want to be pitied, but you can't help but feel it for her. She's a very, very sad girl. And you'd wished she'd finally be happy to stop being rude to anyone.

Alex Montgomery is the popular boy. The one who everyone idolizes, and the one who can have every girl he wants, without the commitment. The only thing he can commit to is a one night stand. He is exactly the guy she should not want, but she couldn't help but be drawn to her. Then one crazy night, she slept with him, it might have been the biggest mistake of her life, but it was one of the best night of her life as well. She couldn't stop thinking about IT and about him, despite everything that is happening at home and school. How I wish it was a dual POV.

It's a cliche - the school b*tch and the school jock. You will like it, and then hate it (or the character), but on the other hand, you couldn't help but be intrigued about the characters and what they will do next. It was like watching a live show in school unfold before your very eyes, and you get to be on the front seat and being handed the fresh gossip straight from the source. It has his moments, and sometimes you'd wish this girl would just thaw the ice around her heart a little bit - she's too cold & b*tchy for me, still I think the ending had me a little curious about the next book in the series and I'd like to believe & hope that people change and Jenn would be kind enough to include Alex's POV in the next one!
