I loved to watch the serious and brooding police officer, Jimmy O’Malley, twitch every time reporter Moira O’Leary teases him. They have known each other since they were young, and Moira had always been in love with him. But it seems, it’s only one sided. Especially when there was family to consider, Jimmy is her brother’s best friend, and he wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize his friendship and his relationship with her family. But I was wondering, and betting how long he will last? Particularly now, that Moira had decided to make her move.

Moira loves her job, but she feels she can do more than just writing about the happenings in the Chicago’s upper class. She’s beautiful, confident, intelligent, and has a mind of her own. She’s not afraid to voice out her emotions, but she can be tact when she needs to be. The moment she sees her childhood friend, and long-time crush in one of the soirees, an old jolt hits her, until she realizes that there was more to it than what she had expected. This was her chance of a lifetime, a story that could boom her career, but first – is she ready to face the danger?

If Moira was loquacious and outgoing, he was silent, and serious – indeed, a perfect combination. Jimmy had tried to avoid Moira ever since she hit puberty. But when he found himself out of place playing undercover in Chicago’s high society, he found Moira’s help could serve him well. She knew these people and had been with them since her career started. As the case progresses, sparks begins to fly, and their chemistry continues to intensify until it finally consumes the both of them. Until Moira gets dangerously close to his investigation, and his fear of her compromising his case was nagging him. Will he be forced to push her away to keep her safe?

They two were meant to be together. Sure Jimmy can be dense and annoying sometimes, especially during his push and pull games, I mean, there was a time when I wanted to shout at Moira and tell her to go find another man. Clearly he wasn’t man enough if he continued to play this game. Moira is beautiful and intelligent, she can have any man she wants. But the heart, her heart had always wanted Jimmy, and she fought for him. She thought her family would take it well, after all, they have known him for a very long time, but it was the other way around. It took hard work and patience, but she earned the guy she had always dreamt of. Yes, finally, after several exasperating scenes that would have lead me to ripped Jimmy and slap some senses into him, he indeed got his head out of his a** and I hope Jimmy knows how lucky he is to be loved intensely and loyally by someone as wonderful as this girl.

As for the case, the search was interesting, and you can actually feel the dilemma that Jimmy was in. He was torn between his personal life and the case he was working on. It wasn’t a pretty sight. He made hasty, stupid decisions that almost caused him the best thing that had ever happened to him, Moira. I wished the case had a more explosive finale than what happened, but nevertheless, it was an interesting one that had me reading until they have found the culprit. I admire Moira’s skills in journalism and her courage to seek for truth regarding the case. Although sometimes, I think my heart pounded a little too hard when she puts her neck on the line…

This was a great read during those rainy days, just right after attending several topics during the convention. Join Moira and Jimmy in their roller coaster ride not only in solving an interesting case, but in trying to work out their emotions and towards their HEA. I loved this book, and this series just got better, sweeter and hotter. Can’t wait for the next book!

Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.

Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an author. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.

After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?”

So she did.

That first book is safely buried on her hard drive, but the process set Shannyn on the path to where she is today—agented with a debut ebook coming out with Kensington in late 2012.
She is recovering from her Diet Coke addiction, fears putting her foot in her mouth on social media, and has a renewed appreciation for the bad girls of the world.
