Top Ten Quotes from Hero By Night
If you follow me on Facebook, you know that this installment in the Independence Falls series. I had so much fun writing about Chad, the town playboy who has never seen himself as a hero. And Lena, the veteran with PTSD, who is struggling to move forward on with her service dog at her side. When I go back and read through the story, Chad’s lines jump out at me so I thought I’d share My Top Ten quotes from Chad Summers, hero of Hero By Night
10.) “That’s a shame. I was looking forward to whispering dirty things in your ear.”
9) “So,” he said, rocking back on his heels. “You thought I was your dog there for a second, didn’t you?”
8) “Just hard to imagine walking away from you, Lena.”
7) “Ah hell, Lena, I’m going to buy you ice cream very damn day just to watch you enjoy it.”
6) “Lena, I’m ready to move past vanilla whenever you are. With you, I’m up for anything.”
5) “I’m listening. And I swear, I’d look at your lips if I could, but right now I can’t stop thinking about running my teeth over your nipples.”
4) “I can be your hero at night, Lena. That I can do.”
3) “Stop teasing the man with the hard-on who wants to buy you dinner.”
2) “Look, I know you’re searching for normal, to be who you were before. But Lena, I don’t think there is anything wrong with who you are now.”
1) “Tonight. Right now. This is for you. But know that I want you, Lena. Looking at you, the thought of giving you pleasure, hearing you cry out, it all makes me hard.”
Lena is a war hero. But after what happened to her, she could no longer go back to service, or her own kind of normal. She has a dog that stays with her, a revolver on her hand bag and triggers that causes her hyperviligance, panic attacks and not to mention - nightmares. Yes, just like some heroes who came back from the battlefield, Lena might be out of it, but still fighting her own battles everyday. Staying at Independence falls is her first step in trying to get back into her normal life, until she came across Chad Summers.
All Chad wanted to do was to fly helicopters. It was his dream since then. But when his wild nights threaten his day job: he was left with a choice between settling down or saying goodbye to his job. When he ended up in the wrong bed with the only woman he couldn't touch, she offered him a proposition that was too hard to resist. Lena offers him to be his fake girlfriend during the day, but at night, Lena would be his.
You will like Chad - he didn't push, he gave it to her on her own time, when she was ready. He has dirty notes to make her smile when she feels that her world is engulfing her. He saw her for what she really is - a strong, capable woman who deserves to be love. I love that he waited for her pacing - not that she asked for it, but he still gave it to her. He's a great guy.
I think this might be my favorite among the three books in the series! I fell in love with both characters - their imperfections, their baggage, and how they try to overcome it. Chemistry is no question, the first time they met is pretty epic, and it went on from their.
Hero by Night is a story about second chances in both love and life. It's a story about an amazing woman who was brave enough to find cure to fight her demons and not give up on her life. It's a story about a man who cares deeply for her, enough to fight with her.
