Paisley Donovan wanted to be treated normally. She wanted to be free. To do everything that was on her Bucket List. But the heart condition that she shared with her sister's made it difficult for her: with overbearing parents and an overprotective boyfriend, she can never tick anything off that list. Good thing she had Morgan, her best friend, who was willing to check some things off. Until one of it nearly killed her - there goes Jagger Bateman pulling her out in the ocean and breathes air into her lungs saving her life. He did more than saving though - he gave her something she longed for: he treated her normal.

I have never seen someone who was VERY, VERY eager to live and experience life the way Paisley is. She's small, she's sweet - but she can be persuasive and stubborn and determined and fierce when a situation calls for it. You will like her, your hearts will break for her, you will hate her at one point - but at the end, you will be proud of her.

Who wouldn't love a man with brains and body? Jagger wanted to succeed on his own. He enrolled himself in one of the toughest flight school in the country. He's reckless and he was just perfect for the thrill that Paisley wanted in her life. Problem is: Paisley is the daughter of his commanding general and the girlfriend of his biggest rival. Yikes. I'm not a fan of cheating, but this one is different. Trust me.

It will be so hard not to fall in love with Jagger. I like his humor, his loyalty, the importance he gave to his friends and the sacrifices he makes for the people that is important to him. There was a point at this novel when I was wondering if he is what he seemed to be. He couldn't be THAT bad, could he? I was saving my judgment until I was finally revealed with a twist I didn't see coming.

He didn't know what she has. And she didn't know what he has as well. They were both happy in their own little bubbles until reality pricks it and burst it without warning. The truths and their past came rushing in, and soon threatening their new-found happiness.

This is my first Rebecca Yarros novel, and I was glad that 2014 didn't pass without me reading one of hers. Eyes Turned Skyward is one of the most beautiful, highly emotional and definitely moving stories I have ever read this year. This story got me hooked, moved, tangled with every twist and teary-eyed with all those heart-stopping, heartbreaking scenes that will get to you over and over again.
