This review was seriously long overdue, but here it is!
She used to have it all, and more. But at 28, Nicole
Miller had lost everything. She and her husband had just separated when a
tragedy struck that had left her broken and feeling alone. It’s just easy to
say to move on and forget about it, but how can you possibly start to let go of
something so painful?
Shawn Burns – I love his family!!! Two set of twins!!!!! Imagine
that! He might be a divorce attorney. Making couple go on their separate ways amicably,
and it made him quite skeptical of an HEA and romance. But he has a loving
family, and his mom was just amazing! Totally! She’s so cool, and it was like
having a girl friend than a mother.
He always has this feelings for Nicole. But since she was
married, he tried to shrug it off. Now, she was almost single and she wanted
his help in filing for divorce. The problem is, he can see that there was more
to the problem than her wanted to have nothing to do with her husband. She was
a mess, grief was consuming her and she was not the woman he knew anymore. So,
he tried to help her. He stayed with her and tried to pull her out of the hole
she put herself in. I wanted Shawn to encourage her to seek professional help.
Although he sacrificed his time, including his mother’s to be with her, I think
it is really important for her to go to someone who had the expertise in
dealing with her emotions.
Shawn may not admit it to his mother, or to this brothers
– but who in their right mind would stay with a friend, and adjust her working
hours if she wasn’t special enough? His efforts were well appreciated, and I did
love him when he didn’t take advantage. He waited, and waited and waited. Even though
the sexual tension was thick enough, you can’t see through it anymore – he still
waited until she was ready for it.
Thank goodness for
Candy Crush.
Her healing started with Candy Crush. This had me
laughing quite a bit. For a successful divorce lawyer to be wasting his time in
playing the game, and teaching it to Nicole who had reach several levels in
just a couple of hours – WTF – are you for real?! It took me days!!!! Nevertheless,
I was glad this game divert her attention from the pain.
The healing was slow and agonizing – to see her struggle
each day to move on, and thankful that she has Shawn to give her encouragement
every day. It took a while, and a whole lot of patience, comforting, and love
that she had finally come out of the darkness, and tried to live her life. She had
learned to forgive, and to open her heart once more.
They were great friends, but they were even amazing
lovers. They were on their way to their HEA, and you thought nothing could go
possibly wrong. I was waiting for the pin to burst their little bubble. And when
it came, their bubble did really exploded, and I was wondering if they would
make it in time to patch up before the novel ends. Yay. I desperately wanted Nicole
to have her HEA!
Just One More Breath is a story of love, forgiveness, and
moving on. This was a great debut from Leigha Lewis, and definitely her future
works are to watch-out for!
Leigha Lewis lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, three year old daughter and Maltese puppy. She loves to read stories about the most unlikely individual finding all consuming, heart stopping love.
