Sweetest Mistake
Sweet Texas Series #2
Candis Terry
Releasing December 31st,
2013
When friends become lovers . . .
Firefighter and former Marine Jackson Wilder has tough guy down to an art, but he’s learned the hard way that promises were made to be broken. Abigail Morgan was once his best friend, his first kiss, his first love, his first everything. He’d just forgotten to mention all that to her and she blew out of his life. Five years later, she’s back and he’s battling a load of mistrust for her disappearing act. But for some reason he just can’t keep his lips—or his hands—to himself.
It can lead to disaster or . . .
When her stint as a trophy wife abruptly ends, Abby returns home to Sweet, Texas, and comes face-to-face with Jackson—her biggest and sexiest mistake. Time and distance did nothing to squash her love for the act-first-think-later stubborn hunk of a man, and when he suggests they renew their old just-friends vow, Abby realizes she wants more. She’d cut and run once. Could she do it again? Or could she tempt him enough to break his promise?

Jackson
Wilder and Abby had not been just best of friends – they had been each other’s
firsts too. But life happened and Abby ended up marrying another man while
Jackson was deployed.
You might
want to hate Abby – but I don’t. She did what she thought was right that time.
She had always loved Jackson with all her heart. But what can she do when she
didn’t know where she stands with him in the first place? So the first man who
promised her the stars, the moon and the whole galaxy came into her life – she got
hitched. What she didn’t expect is that, she might be given the whole universe –
but never love, and one thing she’d wanted the most. She became a trophy wife. After
a humiliating divorce, she went back to home to Sweet, Texas and came face to
face with her first love, her biggest and sexiest mistake (as the blurb would
call him). When he once again offered her friendship, Abby realized that she
wanted more from this guy. She might not have the guts to tell him how she
feels about him in the past, but he’s ready now. The only question is – would he
be willing to take the risk with her?
Jackson
Wilder has loved Abby for a long, long time. Her leaving him, and not even
showing up during the time he needed her most hurt. After all, she was his best
friend. Why in the world would she just disappear into his life and marry
someone else? Now she’s back in town – she looked totally different, but still
the Abby that he used to know. He still want her badly, but how can he possibly
get into a relationship with her when he couldn’t really trust her not to leave
him once again??
Abby may
have made some mistakes, but I really don’t blame her. Jackson didn’t really
promise her anything and would pretend nothing happened to them. It didn’t just
hurt her feelings, but her ego as well. For a brave ex-marine and firefighter –
our hero seems to lose his courage to finally tell what he feels about her. If
he had only been open and honest to her and even to himself – they wouldn’t have
wasted five years of their lives…
I had so
much fun with the Wilder family – they’re an amazing bunch. His mother is
playing matchmaker, his brothers often teases him, and his adorable little girl
is just so cute. He might have been lousy when it comes to speaking his heart
out, but he’s a fantastic father to Izzy. So I might hate him at times, but
when the little girl comes into the picture, you can’t help but to fall in love
with this guy.
I enjoyed
reading this book. What love story is more stronger, more real, and more
steadfast than what started out as friends. They may have wasted a whole lot of
time, suffered so much heartache, and have needed a whole ton of help from the
people they love – but once they had finally got their heads out of their a**es
(most especially Jackson), their love story was worth the wait!
