Mini-Reviews #1

This is my first attempt on doing Mini-Reviews, since I am way behind due to crazy work schedules and stuffs. I have already finished several book and can't find the time to type down some lengthy reviews for it.

For Mini-Reviews #1, I have
(1) The Beauty and The Bachelor by Naima Simone (@Naima_Simone)
(2) Playing the Player by Lisa Brown Roberts (@LBrownRoberts)
(3) Fearless by Shae Ross (@AuthorShaeRoss)

I got all these from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review (thank you so much dear publishers!)

The Beauty and The Bachelor by Naima Simone (@Naima_Simone)

Billionaire Lucas Oliver is hell bent on revenge. And his plan begins when Sydney Blake—the stunning daughter of his enemy—is tricked into bidding on Lucas at a bachelor auction. Then he serves up a little blackmail...followed by a marriage proposal Sydney has no choice but to accept.

Sydney has been controlled by her family her whole life. When Lucas threatens to reveal her father's shady business, she is once again forced to do her duty for her family. But worse—oh so much worse—is the rush of lust that Lucas ignites in her blood.

Lucas is determined to make Sydney suffer, but it’s tough when he can’t keep from touching her–or thinking about touching her–all the time. She’s not fairing much better since she’s engaged to a darkly handsome beast intent on destroying her entire family...along with her heart.

MY THOUGHTS: It’s not an unusual plot, and yet you can’t help but to just fall in love with it. It’s exciting, I love the anticipation, the growth of the characters – most especially the female lead. I adore how he empowered her.

You’d fall in love with Sydney, who is underappreciated but very, very loyal. She’s a woman of her word, once she promised something, she makes sure she goes through it.

The dirty talk is enough to tempt an angel – and it took all of her will power not to succumb into it. Still, being together is inevitable for the both of them. They were really perfect for each other.

RECOMMENDED FOR: Readers who loves revenge-plot that is fast-paced, steamy, and romantic.

Playing the Player by Lisa Brown Roberts (@LBrownRoberts)

The Good Girl Vs. The Player
Round one begins...

Trina Clemons needed the money. Why else would she - the most organized, prepared student in school - spend the summer as a nanny and partner with the biggest slacker ever? Now she's ready to tackle nannyhood with her big binder of research and schedules. Just don't ask her about the secret job of "fixing" the bad habits of a certain high school player...

Slade Edmunds prefers easy hook-ups, and Trina is definitely not his type. She's all structure and rules, while Slade wants to just have fun. Fortunately, Trina has no idea about the bet Slade made with his best friend that he can totally get her to unwind by the end of summer...

Then the weirdest thing happens. There's chemistry. A lot of it.
But nothing gets between a boy and a girl like a big, fat secret...

MY THOUGHTS: Slade was not what you expected. His reputation gets ahead of him. He was more than just a pretty face and a boy with a bad fashion sense. I love his humor and quick-thinking ability. I love his friendship with Alex. (He’s an example why we should not judge book by its cover)

Trina, on the other hand, is uptight, obsessive-compulsive, loves her schedule and she’s living her life through her binder. She thought she was immune to his charms, but what if she finds out there was more to this man than what meets the eye? She needed to chill down, will Slade be the one to ease her into it?

Threw in some crazy kids with diversified personalities, crazy parents – this was one epic summer for the two!

It’s a fun, entertaining read that will have you laughing

RECOMMENDED FOR: Readers who loves a fun, sweet read.

They're more than friends-always have been-and he'll do whatever it takes to prove it to her. First, he has a few demons of his own to slay...one of which could ruin his chances with her for forever.

MY THOUGHTS: Devi is stubborn and determined to the point of frustration. She was amazing but at times she’s filled with insecurities.

Ben on the other hand you will love without hesitation because of his patience and his ability to wait for her while he can have anyone that he wanted. He might have done something stupid, but completely forgivable!!!

They were meant for each other, but the road wasn’t that easy. The journey was long and winding, and for a while, it had me wondering if they would really find a way back into each other.

Nevertheless, the book has humor any reader could appreciate.

RECOMMENDED FOR: Readers who love a strong female lead.
