Is it really possible for a modern day marriage of convenience to end in true love?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author and two-time RITA® Award winner Kristan Higgins brings her signature whipsmart dialogue and endearing characters to a charming, new novel—THE PERFECT MATCH (HQN Books, November 2013, $7.99 U.S./$9.99 CAN.)—the second book in her wildly popular Blue
Heron series.

THE PERFECT MATCH
November 2013
A Blue Heron Novel

What if the perfect match is a perfect surprise? Honor Holland has just been unceremoniously rejected by her lifelong crush. And now—a mere three weeks later—Mr. Perfect is engaged to her best friend. But resilient, reliable Honor is going to pick herself up, dust herself off and get back out there…or she would if dating in Manningsport, New York, population 715, wasn't easier said than done.

Charming, handsome British professor Tom Barlow just wants to do right by his unofficial stepson, Charlie, but his visa is about to expire. Now Tom must either get a green card or leave the States—and leave Charlie behind.

In a moment of impulsiveness, Honor agrees to help Tom with a marriage of convenience—and make her ex jealous in the process. But juggling a fiancé, hiding out from her former best friend and managing her job at the family vineyard isn't easy. And as sparks start to fly between Honor and Tom, they might discover that their pretend relationship is far too perfect to be anything but true love….

KRISTAN HIGGINS!!!!! I can’t believe you did this to me!!!

You made me laugh so hard….
Then made me cry….

The first sentence – and I was hooked. I was already grinning. Honor Holland had just turned thirty-five and her ovaries are about to expire. She needed to get married, and have kids – ASAP. So she went to her dear best friend-slash-lifelong crush-slash-occasional f**kbuddy, Brogan. What she didn’t expect though was to be rejected and to be likened to an old-bat glove (not necessarily a compliment). It didn’t help when he was suddenly engage to HER BEST FRIEND, and they were going to have a baby. (GEEZ I HATE DANA and I BADLY WISHED Honor had broken her nose! ARGH!) But she is the responsible, and reliable Honor Holland – and it would take more than a heartbreak to put her down. Despite the aching heart, and the broken pieces, she went back into the dating arena and started to date. If only it was that simple…
There’s the sexy, handsome and charming, Tom Barlow whose accent I can clearly hear in my brains. Bound by guilt and affection, all he wanted to do was to be there for his unofficial stepson, Charlie. Problem is, his visa is about to expire. Tom has two choices: get himself a green card or leave the country, as well as this broken child behind. What fastest way to get a green card than to marry a US Citizen??
It was the perfect set-up – Tom’s desperate to stay for Charlie, and Honor needs to save her face. Theirs was supposedly a marriage of convenience. But the more time they spent with each other – Honor wanted for the marriage to at least work. The more she gets to know him, the more she fell in love with him. But how can he love her back when he thought every piece of him was already shattered by the emotion she strongly believed in?
It’s good to be back in the vineyard again and be with the Hollands. They have always been fun and refreshing people. We get to see Levi and Faith here as well, and got to see than they are still going strong. Pru was still Pru, and yes, very much TMI! I can’t wait for Jack’s HEA (I do hope he’s next!). Mr. Holland and Mrs. J were about to have their HEA, and I’m so happy for the both of them. Then there’s Honor, whom I love the most. She was the heart of the family, and all I wished for her is to find someone who will see her worth and love her for all that she is. Tom might be a hard nut to crack, I fervently hope that he’ll break all his defenses and finally see that this girl – is all he needed (with or without the greencard).

Just like THE BEST MAN, THE PERFECT MATCH was a great read, and I have finished reading it in one sitting, unable to put it aside even if the clock tells me it was already early in the morning. I can’t just give up on Honor and Tom. I needed to know what will happened to them, I needed for both of them to be happy, for Charlie to finally realized how lucky he is to have Tom, and well, I wanted to know how was it with the immigration.
One again, Kristan Higgins made an amazing novel, filled with so much fun and emotions. It would be a sin to put it down. I would LOVE to read more from this series – interesting bunch of characters that will capture your heart in a jiffy. THE PERFECT MATCH is a perfect read.
RATING:
★ARC Copy was given in exchange for an honest review.★

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author and two-time winner of the Romance Writers of America RITA® Award, Kristan lives with her family in a small Connecticut town that boasts a wonderful library, a great agricultural fair, a really good ice-cream stand and not much else. She is the mother of two lovely kids and the wife of a brave firefighter who is also (perhaps more important) a fantastic cook. Previously a copywriter, Kristan began writing fiction when her children graced her life with simultaneous afternoon naps. Writing, she found, was infinitely more satisfying than folding laundry, and so began her first novel. Kristan holds a B.A. in English from the College of the Holy Cross, which means she can identify dangling participles, quote many great novels and play a mean game of Scrabble.

Kristan is an award-winning baker, devoted fan of the New York Yankees and an avid reader. She
and her crew spend as much time as possible at the family home on Cape Cod, where they shiver in
the Atlantic, ride bikes, swat horseflies and don’t catch any fish.
