She’s a survivor of the front lines of politics. He’s a wounded soldier returning home from the battlefield. Can they place their trust in the power of love?

Nobody plays the role of perfect politician’s daughter better than quiet, respectable math teacher Brooke Ellstein. But she won’t be caught swimming with the sharks again, not after the son of a wealthy donor sinks his teeth into her and gets away with it. Still, political connections have their perks, such as heading up the governor’s “Support Our Troops” pen-pal initiative—and getting first dibs on the smoking-hot sergeant whose picture shakes her right down to her goody-two-shoes.

When corresponding with sweet, classy Brooke, Shane Develen instinctively hides his commando tattoos and blue-collar roots—and he can tell that she’s hiding something, too. But Shane knows he’s gained her trust when Brooke gives him a blisteringly sexy photo. Then he’s injured in an ambush and a fellow soldier posts the snapshot online. Overnight, Brooke’s reputation turns to ashes. Even though he’s totally wrong for her, Shane shows up on Brooke’s doorstep, determined to set things right—and discovers that right or wrong has nothing on the chemistry they share.

Brooke Ellstein is too sweet, too trusting and is too good. She's one of those people who seems to be perfect, and can't do any harm to anyone, until THAT incident happened. She got the press off her back by living a simple and uncomplicated life, until a picture that was supposed to be private fell into the wrong hands and had a catastrophic consequences.

It's cyber-bullying, and trial by publicity at it's finest. One wrong move, and all her hardwork, her good deeds, her years of having an almost-perfect reputation were forgotten. She had no choice but to lie low for the mean time, with Shane, the person whom she entrusted the picture to.

They communicated via email and letters, but nothing had prepared Shane in meeting Brooke. He wasn't ready for any relationships, but he was willing to give it a shot the next time they met, until something happened to him, and the pictures, which he kept (not safely though) went viral. He knew he had to explain his side, and to finally man up and face Brooke. He was no longer the soldier she once met. He was wounded, both physically and mentally - would she still want him?

He's hot, and then he's cold. He can be sweet and infuriating. I think Brooke is like Mother Theresa - sweet and kind, and OMG, I wanted her to throw something at Shane when he has his fits just to make sure she still feels irritated. But no, this girl is amazingly composed and patient, and most of the times, unable to stand up for herself. Shane, okay, he has been through a lot and I know how hard it was for him to get back into the "normal" side of life. But he was willing to set things right, starting by having her with him...

Would he finally realize that she will have him no matter what? Or would he be stubborn enough to up his walls when it comes to her?

I like the complexity of the characters, and the way they make me feel. I loved them, I hated them, I get frustrated at times, but at the end, you can't help but love them and their imperfections. The story line was great as well, the pacing was just perfect, no boring moments in between, and the sex? Ah, it was worth the wait. The anticipation build up was pretty intense. Over-all, it was a nice read.
