Voted Most Likely to Succeed, Melanie Bartlett ended up anything but. The down-on-her-luck single mom wants a complete do-over—is that too much to ask? With her family long gone from River Bend, strong, independent Mel is as surprised as anyone to end up in the quaint small town she once called home. But with her friends, Jo and Zoe, by her side, and a comfortable room at Miss Gina’s quirky bed-and-breakfast, she just might have turned the corner on a new life.

Wyatt Gibson never liked the big city. River Bend suits the ruggedly handsome builder just fine. Wyatt knows he’s home, even if that means being charmed by the appearance of Melanie and her spunky, adorable daughter. Is Wyatt’s calm devotion—even amid a coming storm—enough to convince Mel she may have found a home to call her own, a family that never leaves, and a true love to last a lifetime?

Melanie was voted Most Likely to Succeed during High School, but she didn’t end that way. Her luck already run out, and she was on her way back to River Bend to start from scratch. But before even getting to the small town where she grew up, her car broke down. Her daughter was already impatient, and even the weather was not cooperating.

Then here comes Wyatt – the supposedly knight in shining armor who was ready to lend a hand but she refused because she was scared he might be someone dangerous. He used to live in a big city but preferred to live in a small town like River Bend. What he didn’t expect was the arrival of Melanie and her adorable daughter. Problem is, Melanie had been through rough times, especially when it comes to love and trusting someone – can he be able to convince her to take a chance on him?

Melanie is a strong girl, who have been sharpened by hardships. Being back in the small town was not what she envisioned her future with, but with a growing daughter: she needs stability and security. Thank goodness for her friends and the kindness of an old lady who felt more like an aunt, everything seemed to be going smoothly. Not to mention having the attention of a handsome builder makes her day a little brighter.

Before she gets her happy ending, her ex-husband came back into the picture and starts to disturb their lives. Something happened that made her wonder if she was a good mother….

Would she ever have her happy ending?

I love Melanie, and I love Wyatt even more - he's such a patient man who would do everything for his girls. He's someone Melanie need after what happened to her: dependable, sweet, and responsible.

I love the romance, and the mystery that surrounds the story, and it’s not just about Melanie. I think this was a great series starter with all those promising plots coming into light somewhere in between the chapters of the first book.
