I am totally overwhelmed by this book: 40 short stories by several best-selling authors wrapped in this one sexy cover for a very low amount, and all proceeds will go to charity - its the complete package!
Fast-paced, short, hot and romantic tales from several authors, some are prequels, others are just plainly short stories. I admit, I fell in love with the contemporary more than the rest of the stories in here. There were a lot of nice novels in this book, but one story stood out for me - it was ONCE UPON A SEAL. I totally fell for it - here is a HERO who is scarred, and was forced to live in isolation because his deformities caused by war injuries. These people who have sacrificed their lives to serve our country should be welcomed everywhere, rather than be shunned. Why would we be afraid of them? They have risk their lives for us...
Here was this girl who was delivering him his groceries weekly. She didn't see him, she was surprised he was the only one whom they delivered to outside of town, and why wouldn't he get out? Every week, she'd go to him, give small talks, until the talks would extend, and before she knew it, she found herself liking this strange guy even more. But no matter how much she tried to coax him into coming outside, he wouldn't relent.
It took one accident for him to finally get out of his cave and show his face. He must have underestimated this girl. Because despite his scars, she sees right through him. She didn't run away, she stayed and showed him just how much he meant to her, scars and all.
See? It's just one story, and it was a pretty short read, but still amazing, how much more the other stories in this book?!
