Travis Grayson is my best friend—and I’m his. It’s been like that for the last fifteen years. I would do anything for him, go anywhere for him…and I have, countless times. Except now, now he’s asking for too much. Our friendship has reached a breaking point and I don’t know how to go back.
When he decided to go pro in the BMX circuit, I traveled with him as often as I could and was always the most supportive best friend I could be. When I graduated college and he asked me to be his personal assistant, we spent every waking moment together. We never fought or argued, in fact, our friendship was stronger than ever.
But a fractured ankle has put his career on hold and has given him more downtime than he knows what to do with. Always one for excitement, he agrees to become the bachelor on a televised dating show. He only agreed to do the show, if I would come along and go undercover to help him weed out the girls. Reluctantly, I agreed to give up my eight weeks of freedom.
Now I’m stuck in hell surrounded by girls desperate for his attention. He promised me this show would be smooth sailing. He promised he would listen to my advice on which girls should be eliminated. Except now he’s breaking those promises. He’s stopped listening to my advice and I’m afraid he might be falling for the worst girl here.
I shouldn’t care. Except, there’s one girl here that I’m realizing I don’t want him to eliminate. There’s one girl who I want to see go all the way to the end, and I want Travis to choose her.
That girl is me. I’m pretty sure I’m falling in love with my best friend and it looks like he will break my heart in front of the entire world on national TV.

Is
there more safe and dangerous feeling than falling in love with your best
friend? Safe – because you know every single thing about him/her, dangerous
because you have too much to risk. This is why I took a risk in reading this
book despite the fact I’m not really into reality TV. I wanted to know how they would end up with
each other, how they fought with their feelings, and how they finally realize
they were each other’s IT.
Be calm. Be cool. Be Safe.
It
has been Rile’s and Travis’ mantra since he started going pro in the BMX
circuit, now fifteen years later, Riles had become his PA, and she goes with
him everywhere when he’s on tour. Their friendship had grown stronger – they never
fight, they never argue and despite the fact that everybody thought they’d end
up together, their friendship remained platonic, not to mention, Riles is
oblivious to that fact.
Now
he needed to rest from an injury and his mom agreed to do a reality dating
show, and he wanted her to go in. He wanted an insider to see how the girls are
and he wanted her to help him chose. But it seems, he wouldn’t listen to her
anymore, and he keeps on choosing the girl she hated the most. Grr… it was so
frustrating to watching him giving Nicki the bracelet during elimination
rounds. I wanted her out of the house – but of course they needed some drama
for the rating.
Then
her birthday came along – and it was the turning point of their friendship.
They crossed the bridge and there was no going back. Suddenly, it was just
painful watching him go out with other girls and flirting with them. They are
already fighting. He said he would choose her, but his actions seem to be conveying
a different meaning. It was breaking them, it was breaking her. Suddenly, all
she wanted to do was to get out of the house and end this charade.
This
is why I like this story, because no one was in love with the other in the
beginning, or they think they’re not. They needed a push from an outside force,
a big mighty painful push, for them to finally realize that they were meant to
be together.
There
were scenes that I wanted badly to get inside his brain – want to knock some senses
into his head and tell him his decisions are just stupid, why are you doing
it?! Guys – they are so insensitive sometimes. And when he broke her heart in
front of national TV – OMG!!!!! I was so shocked I felt my jaws dropping on the
ground. I just can’t believe it. He said he would choose her!! And I believed
him! What in the world is happening her? It was just too painful to watch him
break her heart.
Although
he waited for two months for his grand gesture (RE: SEASON FINALE), it was
something worth waiting for. It may not be from his own POV, but he (AT LAST)
offered some explanations for every actions he did. What can I say, he was
fully redeemed!
I
can’t say how much I loved this novel – it had made me laugh, cry, and well,
fall in love. If only Travis has his own POV, then I would have been a little
more elated than I am right now. Nevertheless,
this lovely tale of friendship blossoming into love had made my day and I’ll
have to say that I just found my new favorite book and author.

Before I could stop myself, I glanced up and caught Travis’ eye. He was staring at me, mouth agape. I gave him a hy smile and shrugged my shoulders slightly. Travis slowly shifted his mouth into a dazzling smile, which had me completely forgetting about the cameras that lined the driveway. Travis was wearing a well-tailored charcoal gray suit. He had a white dress shirt on, with thin gray strips you wouldn’t even notice, unless you were standing next to him. His tie was striped diagonally in all shades of green. And with Travis being Travis, he was wearing a pair of gray Converse shoes, well okay, one shoe, since he had a walking boot on the other foot. His usual bed head hair was slightly styled with some gel that now made it look casually tousled.
Damn it all to hell if he didn’t look hot.
Travis glanced at the producer who gave him a slight nod and turned back to me with the huge grin still on his face and quickly scooped me up in his arms.
“Riles, gosh I’ve missed you!” he breathed into my hair. Sighing against him, I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him as tightly as I could.
“Can we never do the whole two week break again?” I mumbled into his chest. Travis started laughing and loosened his grip on me allowing me to step back.
“Oh, and by the way - could you stop drooling over every girl that pushes her boobs in your face?” I whacked him in the gut before he could respond.
“Ow. Damn. I can’t help it if they willingly put them there!” He was massaging his gut as if I really did any damage. Please, I think my hand hurt more than his stomach did. I was about to mention this to him, but by then, the producer was twirling his finger in the air, telling us it was time to wrap the introductions up.
“Well, I guess I’ll see you inside.” I leaned up to give him another hug.
Before I could pull away, he whispered in my ear. “I told you to not get all girly on me.” I laughed, backed out of his arms, and gave him a wink before walking towards the house.
Born and raised in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin, Caylie fell in love with reading at a young age. With her lively imagination, she created numerous stories in her head throughout her childhood and teenage years. Finally at 16 she sat down at the computer and wrote out her first full length novel. That pacified her for a time. However, the stories kept swimming through her mind. Finally in 2013 she typed out Chapter One of three different novels and sent them off to a close friend for review. At her friends advice, she started exclusively writing Choose Us. When she isn’t slaving away at the keyboard, Caylie is an avid reader, and lover of coffee… copious amounts of coffee. She also has an unhealthy addiction to tv shows—binge watching is her favorite.
She chases her two kids around the house all day, and has a husband whom she adores.
