All Keegan wanted was a roommate who was quiet, minded their own business, and paid for part of the rent. Instead, she got Camden Brooks.
Camden, with his sinful body, sharp tongue, and the inability to stay out of Keegan’s personal business, couldn’t seem to curb his interest in the new girl who wouldn’t put up with his domineering ways.
Feelings were running rampant, sexual tension was thick, and both were struggling to let go of control.
To some people, getting a roommate simply meant living with another person. But to both Camden and Keegan it was a curveball that neither was prepared to swing at.
It
started with the cover, and thank goodness it continued with each passing
pages. Get ready to bend – because this novel can melt and bend iron with its
hotness.
She
was too young to be a parent, and she has a lot on her plate. But she had no
choice when responsibilities where pushed on her shoulder by her mother to take
care of her younger sister while the former was busy with her life, acting like
she was still single. Her grades were already in danger, nursing school was no
joke (trust me, I have been there and I don’t want to go back!). To save her
future and her sanity, she decided to move out and rent an apartment.
She
was just looking for a room, and a roommate who would not steal her make up or
murder her in her sleep, instead she got more – yay! She got the brooding,
mysterious, complex Camden Brooks.
I
thought all the while it’s Dodge – admit it! This guy was pretty much irresistible
the first time I read him in this book, and I would have love him to be with
Keegan (at first). She needed someone to lighten up her life and this guy is
brightness personified. I love his humor, his whole personality! And there were
a whole bunch of them!!
Camden,
on the other hand, is as hot as his brother, but the complete opposite. If his
brother was all-smiles, he was not. He had a sharp tongue that can bleed you –
he doesn’t have his filter, and he can’t stay away from Keegan’s personal
business. He is one HOT ALPHA male that can warm beds, and make your heart
swoon. He makes her mad, confused, and partly frustrated (sexually?). He was
hot and then cold. But what I love most about this guy is he is loyal to a
fault – which was the main reason that caused all their troubles. He can keep
secrets and he protects those he loves. I knew it wasn’t his secret to keep,
but telling Keegan about it would have spare them both the heartache.
No
one can deny the sexual tension that is present in the room when they are near.
Everybody knows it, even I can feel it – but Keegan doesn’t. Because this girl
thought she wasn’t beautiful. He was way beyond her league, and self-esteem
issues really do suck. Her friends, including Dodge who became one of her
closest tried to tell her she was beautiful, it took a while, and some bumps before
she finally redeem her self-esteem.
I
like Keegan – she was the type of girl anyone could fall in love with. She was
responsible, despite the fact that she chose to live their house, she still go
back for her little sister and make sure she was okay. She was shy, and a
little unsure of herself. I wonder when will she finally confront her mother
about her taking all the responsibilities her mother was supposed to do. When
the situation finally arrived, it came at the worse time possible. But I was
glad, she finally grew the balls to tell her what she felt.
Bender
is the first book in the series of hot Brooks brothers you wouldn’t want to
miss, most especially after getting a glimpse of what I can expect for the next
book. I had enjoyed reading the story, watching the characters evolve, watching
as the plot turns, watching them fell in love and had their hearts broken. I
loved every page of it, starting from the cover, and recommending it to friends
would be the first on my to-do list after typing this review!
"Because with that one
look. I knew you were the girl who could ruin me."
