Book Summary

For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart. Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes…and none of them will ever be the same.

Book Review

I am torn between loving and hating Thoughtless. I have never met a more annoying and bitchy character among my YA reads. If I am making a list of it, Kiera would be on top. The whole book is an emotional roller coaster, I couldn’t wait to see the end part of it. Thoughtless is really long. How did the whole charade would end? It was a relief that I was finally on the last page.

The characters are complex and you’d love at the same time hate them. Denny, the boyfriend, is caring, sweet, and a-near-perfect boyfriend. I really don’t get it why Kiera cheated on him. It was okay if he was a cheater or abuses her, but he isn’t! There was no justification of Kiera’s actions. I couldn’t believe she jumps from one bed to another under the same roof! She isn’t thinking – more like ruled by hormones. I wished she chose early to save everyone all the trouble rather than going in circles. Kellan, on the other hand, is your typical handsome bad boy who can knock everyone off their feet and take them to his bed. It was nice that he held on to his desires for a while, in respect for Denny. At least, he had a conscience.

Thoughtless is not that bad, I find it okay. Maybe because it is too long for a simple story of falling in love, trying to stay in love, falling out of love with another person. It would made you rethink about cheating – whether it is right or wrong, worth it or not.

“There were so many secrets between us now, it was hard remembering a time when things had been simple & easy, when it had felt like pure puppy love. I suppose all love eventually comes back down to earth.”
