Book Review: Freeing Carter

I fell in love with Carter from the first chapter, and continued to until the last page. He was someone that his family could count on. At an age that he should be enjoying girls, booze and friends - he was stuck making sure that his mother and sister were fine. Who would not love him?

But Carter has a secret...


Secret he's not willing to share even with his best friend.

He tried his best in keeping his sister and his mother safe. But sometimes, even strong people falter and needs help. Carter was in denial and refused help from people who are willing to give a hand. He thought he was man enough to keep things together. I loved him more when he finally admitted that he needed help- although it took one eye opener to make him realize that he can't do it all by himself.

Kira - is a breath of fresh air and the girl who can pull off an orange hair :)


She too has some personal issues that she should be dealing with, but you never see it in her. I find her cool, and the kind of people that loves living life one day at a time. Carter perfectly described her: She's fun, and wild, and free and happy. Tears don't belong in her eyes. Frowns don't belong on her lips. It's not right. Kira is what Carter really needed. Someone strong, is not capable of much drama (because Carter doesn't need more of it), nonjudgmental and dependable. She knew how to pacify him when he's too stressed out.

You did not just make a great heck of a love story. You mixed in family dynamics that will break your reader's heart for the boy who tries his best to be the man that his family needed.

Book Review: Dizzy

Indeed - the whole book was a blast. It was a fast read, easy on the heart, and so just worth the time and effort you spent on reading. No reason to be dizzy because Ms. Dawn and Ms. Perry combined their writing talent to produce this amazing, amazing book.

Dylan (one of the Gibson Boys) was given the shock of his life when his brother suddenly announced that he was getting married. They promised each other that no girls would come between them both after their mother left them and never returned. Now, he was marrying the sister of the hot girl who crashed his party. I think he was dizzy what problem to prioritize: his brother's impending nuptials or the girl he couldn't get off his mind. Everything should be okay if he wasn't cynical with commitment and relationship.

Ziah - don't you just love her name? She's very driven and motivated to go to med school. Everything was in order in her life until she crashes a party and met this rich boy who annoys her for no reason, her boyfriend whom she think was safe just cheated on her with one person she trusted most and of course, her sister is going to get married just before she finishes college. With her heart (or ego) broken, her sister being busy with pre-wedding bliss, she's thrown with Dylan to help plan the wedding. What she didn't expect is that there's more to him than just the regular party boy. But can she make him fall in love with her when he's too oppose to the idea and notion of love? I so admire her ability to forgive and move on.

It is not just the both of them that makes this novel fantastic but the surrounding characters as well. Dylan's best friend Paul is simply the best. They both believe and adhere to their friendship's mantra bros before hoes . It was just nice to see boys being there for each other when one of them needed the other. It was sweet but not to the point that it was girly. You can still feel the testosterone in the air despite the scene.

Two heads are indeed better than one (but both can deliver really good novels individually anyway) Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading this book and I'd recommend this to friends who'd like a sweet, short read about falling in love unexpectedly, letting go of the past and moving forward and friendship & forgiveness.

This a game. Our game. One that I asked for, but with each day it feels more real. 

Wow.

Lot of cussing from here and there.

But still wow. 

Cheyenne never thought Gregory would cheat on her. Gregory who had been safe, who’s family havebeen friends with hers, and the only person she knew inside the campus. Now, she needs to find someone to parade as her boyfriend to get back at him. Enters Colt.

Colt. Colt. Colt. Did I tell you how I hate your mouth? Good thing you are sweet deep down there and such a good son to your mom or else there’s no way I am falling for you. But then let me borrow Chey’s words: The rough boy who hates the world, curses like a sailor, but is gentle with his mom and is here with me. Colt needed the money for his dying mom, so he accepted the Charade that Chey offered. 

What started as a charade could end up being so much more. But with all the secrets and the past haunting the both of them- can a relationship survive? 

I love the novel! Although I didn’t cry like what my friend warned me I would. But my heart ached greatly for this two young people who have been through a lot of things and found comfort in each other’s arms. My heart breaks every time Colt goes to his mom, especially in the near-end of the novel. I was glad someone was with him- because even though he may look tough, he’s still his mother’s little boy. 

I would gladly recommend it to friends who would like to read a short, fast-paced novel that can melt or break hearts.
