Some say “chivalry is dead.”

I don’t think so.  Most women I know like a gentleman.

Protective, opens doors, treats women with respect, typically follows the rules.

But a gentleman doesn’t fall for his best friend’s woman. Current or ex.

And that’s what I’ve done.

During the Christmas season of all times — that magical time for decorations, gifts, family . . .

Yes, the girl who was off-limits for so long, who I’ve loved all my life, has come back in town and possibly back to me.

I can’t follow the gentleman rules this time.  There’s too much at stake.  I let her go once.  I won’t let her go again.

What happens under the mistletoe, stays under the mistletoe.

Or does it?

BOOK REVIEW

4.5/5

Jax reminds me of male authors who you think your partners should listen to. He knows his moves, he knows the what-to-do's and what-not-to-do's when it comes to women and relationships. This is the man we all want. Now, if this man could only have the woman of his dreams.

Skylar just got her heart broken, and she just want to go home for Christmas alone. To see some of her friends, and spend the Christmas as usual after the man she had been with for over a decade, and has been her friend before then decided to break her heart. What she didn't expect was Jax meeting her at the airport, and her supposedly host bailing out on her due to unforeseen circumstances. So she had no choice but to accept Jax's hospitality.

Jax was the first man who broke her heart when they were younger. But Jax has other plans now. Skylar was a fair play now that she was single. Despite the solid "bro code" that should be followed and a strict rule among men - there was no way he was letting this opportunity go. He already wasted 10 years of his life without her, he wasn't gonna waste any time now. He wanted Skylar for Christmas. All he has to do, was to follow the Gentlemen's Rules (well again, except for the bro code). Will he finally get the girl of his dreams at last?
"You were my first love," I whisper but don't make eye contact.
He kneels, taking both my hands. His blue eyes look up at me, full of warmth. "I want to be your last," he whispered back.
I like Jax. He might have his unconvential way of breaking the "code", but he has good intentions. And he was finally doing what he was afraid of doing 10 years ago. He didn't push Skylar, he was really persuasive and determined but never forced her to have him instead of Luke. Skylar, she's a gem. She didn't want to get in between the two men. She did try, in fairness to her. But all was futile - she was in love with the young Jax, and the older Jax proved to be the better version of the younger one.

I loved the memories of friendship that Jax and Skylar shared. It proved that they have a stable and solid foundation for their feelings. Jax was finally done being selfless and sacrificing. Luke was given a chance, and he didn't take care of it. It was his chance. The story ended on a note that felt real. Yes, things would never be the same again. The broken trust, broken friendship would never go normal - but it's reality. Nevertheless, Skylar finally got what she wanted for Christmas.

It's the PERFECT Christmas Read! It's short, sweet and easy on the heart. You cannot go wrong with it.
