TIMID
Lark Cove Book 2
By Devney Perry
Release Day – SEPT 4

Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name.

Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman.

Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila.

A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.

BOOK REVIEW

5/5

If you have read Tattered (which I highly recommend that you do), you’ll know Jackson and Willa - and you’d root for them.

I am just excited to finally read the second book in the series, and get to see HEA to both of my favorite secondary characters in Tattered. Willa Doon is shy. She’s beautiful, quiet and organized, and have always been in love with Jackson Page since he came into town. Problem is, he doesn’t even remember her name.

Jackson Page has one big baggage on his back. His past isn’t really pretty and not to mention he feels like he’s loosing the only family he has, with Charlie’s father being in the picture. He tries to forget his problem with a bottle of tequila which led him to dream of a certain girl that he couldn’t get out of his head.

It was the most exciting and happiest moment of her life, and he forgot about it.

Willa is just amazing. I love her - her strength, her shyness, her tenacity - her heart. It’s just beautiful. She had waited so long for Jackson, and when he finally realized she was just right in front of her, he made him work for it a bit, before finally giving in. And when she did, oh my, she went all the way.

She may have been head over heels in love with the man, and the man might be oblivious to emotions, most especially hers, but she won’t let him hurt her. And when she knows there’s something to fight for, she would. Our Willa can be feisty when she wants to.

Willa’s family is equally amazing. I love their relationship. Her parents were still in love with each other, but not to the point that they forget about her. Willa was loved.  They have welcomed Jackson with open arms when they learned their dating. They treat him as part of their little circle.

But when Jackson’s past comes knocking on his door dropping one bomb after the other, will their relationship survive?

Timid shows a patient kind of love. The kind of love that you have to work for, but earning it would be like winning the grand prize. The kind of love that can withstand storms, judgment and bad pasts. The kind of love that trusts and fights. This is the kind of love that everyone would swoon over, and would wish that they would probably have.

I finished this book in one sitting, falling in love with each characters. I didn’t have a choice and got totally hooked with the plot and its twists and turns. Swooned over the romance, squirmed on the steamy scenes and got that big relief on the HEA.

This is one heck of a ride, one you wouldn’t dare to miss!

EXCERPT

I scooched my chair in toward the table, trying to put a little more space between Jackson and me, but he wasn’t having it.

He put both hands on the back of my chair, then leaned in close. “Hi, Willa.”

“Uh . . . hi.” I shivered at the heat from his chest on my bare shoulders.

Why was he standing so close? My parents were right there. Our table was one of four tall, square ones in the center of the room and there was plenty of space between tables.

Plenty. P-L-E-N-T-Y.

But was Jackson using any of that plentiful space?

No sirree. He stayed pressed against the back of my chair, like there were only three inches of usable space behind him, not three feet.

My skin prickled he was so close. I tried to nudge my chair forward again but it barely moved. Sweat beaded on my temples and I pulled in a shaking breath.

Jackson’s woodsy, rich scent was everywhere. It overpowered the stale beer, pizza and peanuts, and I inhaled a deep breath, unable to resist.

Sexy Hot Forest. That’s what they’d call his cologne.
