The beginning of any love story starts with the meet.

I’ve known Garrett Hollis since before I can remember, and I’ve loved him just as long. I loved him while he loved someone else. I loved him when he had a baby with her. I loved him when she left him.

The greatest of love stories is that between a dad and his daughter. I should know. I’ve had a front row seat. First steps, first words, all the big moments.

Garrett was just a teenager when Mia was born. I’ve watched him braid his daughter’s hair, hold her hand crossing the street, seen her asleep on his chest. I’m the best friend, the one they can count on for everything from dance lessons to motherly advice, anything they need. I’m their go-to girl.

The best part of any love story is the happily ever after.

But what if the happily ever after doesn’t include you?

All my life, that’s how long I’ve loved him.

Of course, he’s clueless.

Excerpt:
As far as dates go, this one has been good.  I like her.  She’s attractive, funny, smart, seems to have her head on straight.  All the boxes are checked.  This should be the point where I kiss her, ask her out again.  I should be devising ways to get in this woman’s panties, but instead I’m thinking more about yanking down the tutu of one very sexy Biscuit Girl.  I should be thinking about how to get this woman to fall for me, but it’s me that’s fallen.  I should have one thing on my mind, and I do — Devlyn.

There’s just one big ass problem.  She’s my friend.  I can’t go there.  There are so many reasons why I can’t go there.  The town would have a field day.  We’d have no privacy.  Everyone would have an opinion.  If we broke up, where would I get a decent cup of coffee?  How would Mia react to this?  Then there’s Scott, who’s actually the least of my concerns.  Devlyn seemed pretty sure it was over, and if it’s not, I plan on convincing her.

I don’t want to lose Devlyn.

Staying friends guarantees her in my life.  Dating her doesn’t.

Love doesn’t come with a guarantee.

Love is a risk.  I used to be a risk taker, but teenage fatherhood buried that part of me.  Stability became the name of the game.  It had to.  I look towards her diner, wondering if she’s back.

BOOK REVIEW

5/5

OMG. I literally just finished this book, and I couldn't find the words to tell you on how much I loved it! This is Prescott Lane's best to date, I must admit. I read loads from her, and I loved everything, but this one - this just went straight into my heart, pierced it and brought it back together.

All My Life is a story of family, love, friendship, hope, and relationships. It tackled several family dynamics, one of which is such a taboo, but is widely happening. It's a mix of everything, and it started when Mia Hollis speech went viral, (or perhaps long before that).

Garret my have just been young when he became a father, a single father at that - but he did well with Mia. Mia grew up to be beautiful, responsible, and with a good head on her shoulder. Now, she's 18 in a few month's time and is ready to go to college. Garret will be an empty nester at 34. Mia made it her mission to have her dad back on the dating world again before she leaves.

Devlyn - she's the best friend. She had seen Garret fall in love with Mia's mom, and Mia's mom leaving the two of them behind. She promised him she'd be there every step of the way, and she had been. She watched the both of them, and made sure they are taken well care of. But what Garret didn't know is that Devlyn has always been in love with him, and she had fallen in love with Mia the first time she held her in her arms.

Being back on the dating scene again made Garret realized that what he needs is right under his nose. But jumping from friends to lovers is a risk. Is he willing to take it? Will Devlyn as well?

Just as when they finally took the leap, and things were going smoothly, Mia's mom went back into the picture. And it seemed Mia had always wished for her family to be together again. Ouch (I know).

Will Devlyn finally have the happy ending she had been dreaming about? Or will she step back and allow Mia to have the happy ending she wanted even though it doesn't include her?

Prescott wrote about different kinds of love in this book, and it overflows of love. The kind of love that one will receive when it's pure and unadulterated. The love that doesn't need reciprocation, and the kind of love that doesn't need the blood ties for you to become family.

Yes, ready your tissues. Be sure you have it handy because I guarantee you, ALL MY LIFE IS GOING TO MAKE YOU CRYThis book is perfectly written, I love the twists, the turns - how the characters developed and came about. The timing was just perfect. It wasn't rushed, or the pacing was just perfect.  A MUST READ!
