In DISCOVERING DELILAH…

After the death of her parents on the day of her college graduation, Delilah Armstrong thought she could finally follow her heart and come out to her closest friends, but the guilt of going against her parents’ beliefs haunts her. The feelings she has for her best friend, Ashley, are stronger than anything she’s felt before, but Delilah has never even kissed a girl, and fear stops her at every turn.

Ashley Carver promised herself that she would never again date another girl who wasn’t out, but that was before she met intoxicatingly sweet and sexy Delilah.

When another girl offers to teach Delilah the ropes, it changes Delilah’s whole world and gives her the courage to go after the only girl she really wants. But coming out isn’t as easy as Delilah imagined, and moving past her parents’ death and the feelings of guilt she is left with is even harder. The intense passion between Ashley and Delilah is too strong to deny, but coming together means risking everything.

Discovering Delilah is an edgy, evocative, romantic story of friendship, family, and the courage to love.

I know how you feel about me. I feel it every time you kiss me. But please don’t tell me until you can say it without worry of who hears you, because as much as I want your love, I want it free and clear of all the rest of the stuff we have to work through. I want to know that when you tell me you love me-whether it’s next week or next year – that you would be just as confident saying it to a microphone as you would whispering it in my ear.

Let me tell you a secret…

This is my first time.

In reading this genre.

And I’m so glad it was Melissa Foster… (now this sounds weird. Yay.)

GUILT and GRIEF
These two are powerful emotions individually, but together? It’s brutal. Delilah was experiencing both. Her parents just died, and she was blaming herself and the confrontation that happened before the accident. Their death had her stepped back from the decision of finally following her heart and coming out to her closest friends. Guilt was overriding every single emotion she felt. Despite the fact that her feelings for her best friend Ashley was going stronger every day, Delilah has yet to experience being with a girl. She wasn’t sure what to do.

Ashley was really good for her. Regardless of the fact that Ashley didn’t want to get into a relationship with someone who has not got out of the closet. Until Delilah. She was willing to wait, to set the pace of the relationship base on Delilah’s comfort. She was a great character, but can be clueless at times, easily forgivable though.

Then there’s the other friend who offers to teach Delilah the ropes. I wasn’t really sure about this at first. Would it make it awkward? Would it be good? Would it be terrible? But Ms. Foster made sure that things would go smoothly for Delilah (and me). And this friend? She was awesome. She was what exactly Delilah needs at that point in her life. She never pushed, never demanded, and made sure Delilah (and me) was comfortable with it. I didn’t know how Melissa did it, but she made sure it wasn’t awkward.

When it comes to contemporary romance, Melissa Foster would be somewhere on top of my favorite list, and Discovering Delilah is one of my anticipated books from this author. I think it’s time that I try something different from my usual reads.

I was crossing my fingers, and calming my nerves because I was nervous, I didn’t know what to expect, really. All I know is that I’m sure I’d be in good hands, that Melissa Foster never disappointed me in her books, and this one won’t be an exception.

I was right – because Discovering Delilah was indescribably good. Melissa Foster made sure that her readers would enjoy and understand her journey as Delilah discovers herself with the help of her friends and Wyatt. Support system and a non-judgmental attitude goes a long, long way.

It was well-written. This book just proved how Ms. Foster was sensitive to her readers, and some issues. It’s beautiful, tasteful and it rocked my world. I’m just happy I gave this one a shot.
