Ash – he was the kind of guy that would make you feel
unsure: would you want him or not. He can be harsh, frank, crass and finesse
was never a quality, definitely rough around the edges. But he can be a
gentleman, thoughtful, sweet, really persuasive and a god in bed. So heck, it
has been a great confusion whether to like him or not.
He love his family, truly. But they didn’t see him for
who they really is – all they see is his past and not his achievement. Even then,
when they asked for help, he came running and loaned them his savings. However,
when it was his time of need, his parents wouldn’t give him the money unless he
change his ways.
Alessandra – had an unusual profession. She’s not a
prostitute, she’s an escort, an actress. She poses as a girlfriend, as a date
for men who needs her. But she has her rules, and she was very rigid with them.
Not sleeping with clients was on the top of the list. But with Ash, she gets to
break them: one rule at a time. He was a determined, persuasive man. You cannot
say no to him, he will only wear you down!
There was tension between the two of them already the
moment they met. It was electrifying. Yet, when Alessandra told Ash about her
rules, he respected it (but it doesn’t mean he didn’t drop hints or tempt her
at times). They may have started the pretend game with his parents, but it also
paved way into a newfound friendship. They had an easy camaraderie despite the
chemistry that was brewing between the two of them. When Alessandra finally
gave in – it was really worth waiting for. He really knew what he’s doing in
bed. And I was glad Alessandra broke her rules with him. Since he doesn’t
believe in relationships, they settled in friends-with-benefits.
But what happens when one of them falls in love?
To love or not to love Ash – that is the initial
question. But after reading this, and getting to know him, his good side
outweighs whatever imperfections he has. He’s a great guy with some flaws: it
what makes this male lead almost real. Hey no one is perfect, and that includes
prince charming!
And yes, let us not forget the parents, I didn’t like
them one bit. What kind of parents would do that to their son? What he did
might be a little embarrassing, but that was way in the past, and he did a lot
more noble stuffs after that. Can’t they forget and forgive?
I had fun reading this novel: their banters, the way he
would tempt her into having him, and even their fights that made me want to
scream. The way to their happy ending is a little rough, and they had so much
to learn: most especially communication and trust. But it was just amazing how
something you didn’t expect or started with pretend turned out to be the best
thing that happened to the both of them. Interesting bunch of characters that
you can relate to, stand-alone, sexy with happy-ending: what more can you ask
for?
