I cried, I smiled, I fell in love. Lorraine Heath gave me
a book that I couldn’t put down with the finale of the Scandalous Gentleman of
St. James. Finally, it’s time for the Duke of Avendale to meet his match.
The lady in red caught his attention, he knew she was not
one of the ton, but she didn’t move like it. She moved like she owned the
place. The moment he saw her, he knew he wanted her in his bed. But it wasn’t
going to be easy.
Rosalind Sharpe is no stranger to men who are attracted
to her. But when she gains the attention of Avendale, she got a little
distracted – which is quite dangerous for what she has planned all along. When
she knew that he was filthy rich, she knew she found the perfect target for her
last deception. She will make enough to put her swindling days behind her. Now,
if only she can resist him.
But soon, Rosalind realized that Avendale was not a fool.
The moment he discovered her deception, he strike a bargain with her: she can
have all the money she need for a week in his bed. She needed the money, she
was desperate for it. But she needed to have some conditions.
Both of them have secrets, both of them have past no one
was willing to share. Can two people from different backgrounds, with a whole
lot of baggage last more than a week?
Avendale, he has a very, very big and generous heart. He might
hide it with his duke-like demeanor (arrogant and all), but it didn’t hide the
fact that his heart is golden. The fact that Rosalind had pushed him to
consider talking to his mother and being honest with her made all the
difference in the world. Suddenly, his past wasn’t haunting him anymore…
I think this was my favorite among the three. Lorraine
Heath saved her best for last. At first, I wanted to hate Rosalind for what she
did, but she has her reasons. She was desperate, and beggars could not be
choosers. Nevertheless, overall, she was a good person and perhaps the greatest
sister in the world. Some of my favorite scenes were those of hers and Harry,
no matter heartbreaking they might be. So ready some tissues, if I were you.

LORRAINE HEATH always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals and computer code, but something was always missing. After reading a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre, but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She’s been writing about them ever since. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry awards, including RWA’s RITA® and a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award. Her novels have appeared on the USA Today and New York Times best-seller lists.
I don't know how this last book of the series could be the best...since the first two were terrific! But I shall just have to read it to find out, now won't I? :-) Thanks for your review and this post. jdh2690@gmail.com
