Relocating to Arctic Norway would put a freeze on anyone’s social life. For Leda Lindgren, with her crutches and a chip on her shoulder the size of her former Manhattan home, the frozen tundra is just as boring as it sounds. Until she meets her uncle’s gorgeous employee.
Unfortunately, no matter how smoking hot the guy is, Roar comes with secrets as unnerving as his moving tattoos. And Leda doesn’t trust him.
Roar shouldn’t be drawn to the moody human girl with eyes that leave him weak in the knees. But when Leda gets shot by one of his enemies and survives, Roar finally understands why he’s drawn to her: Leda is exactly what he was sent to Earth to find. A weapon of immense power capable of saving his planet.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

First, I’d like to start with the cover – isn’t it
pretty? It’s one of the reasons that this book caught my attention. It’s a rare
occurrence for me to read and review fantasy, but I gave this one a try.
I like Leda, she has her issues but she’s an awesome girl
who doesn’t really see what she’s worth. No thanks to her mom who wouldn’t give
her the time of the day. Her dad who died and left her with relatives she
barely even knew, and relocating to a place she was unfamiliar with. Then she
meets Roar, whom she was really drawn to. She didn’t understand the spontaneous
combustion the two of them have whenever they were close or touching. Problem
is, she just knew that Roar has more than what he seems to be.
I am not a fond of insta-love, chemistry between
characters is overwhelming, the pacing is fast, although sometimes it tends to
pause a bit somewhere. Nevertheless, it’s an adventure. The anticipation of
what is going to happen kept me reading. I loved the secondary characters –
their complexity and diversity. Yes, they are no ordinary twins – they are
different and somehow it includes characters that were unexpected but I was
glad they were there.
It was a nice read, although it’s a little bit lacking,
and I wish the author have added something more or prodded deeper into the
plot. But perhaps – this is just the beginning of the series, and left me
wanting for more?
